அக்கிரமக்காரருக்குள் வாசமாயிருக்கையில் அவர்களுடைய காமவிகார நடக்கையால் வருத்தப்பட்டு;

ராஜ்யங்களுக்குள் அலங்காரமும் கல்தேயருடைய பிரதான மகிமையுமாகிய பாபிலோனானது தேவனால் சோதோமும் கொமோராவும் கவிழ்க்கப்பட்டதுபோல கவிழ்க்கப்படும்.

ஆகையால் மோவாப் சோதோமைப்போலும், அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் தேசம் கொமோராவைப் போலுமாக, காஞ்சொறி படரும் இடமும், உப்புப் பள்ளமும், நித்திய பாழுமாயிருக்கும்; என் ஜனத்தில் மீந்தவர்கள் அவர்களைக் கொள்ளையிட்டு, என் ஜாதியில் மீந்தவர்கள் அவர்களைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்வார்கள் என்பதை என் ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் உரைக்கிறார்.

வானபரியந்தம் உயர்த்தப்பட்ட கப்பர்நகூமே, நீ பாதாளபரியந்தம் தாழ்த்தப்படுவாய்; உன்னில் செய்யப்பட்ட பலத்த செய்கைகள் சோதோமிலே செய்யப்பட்டிருந்ததானால், அது இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் நிலைத்திருக்கும்.

அப்படியே சோதோம் கொமோரா பட்டணத்தார்களும், அவைகளைச் சூழ்ந்த பட்டணத்தார்களும், அவர்களைப் போல் விபசாரம்பண்ணி, அந்நிய மாம்சத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து, நித்திய அக்கினியின் ஆக்கினையை அடைந்து, திருஷ்டாந்தமாக வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

அவர்களுடைய உடல்கள் மகாநகரத்தின் விசாலமான வீதியிலே கிடக்கும். அந்த நகரம் சோதோம் என்றும் எகிப்து என்றும் ஞானார்த்தமாய்ச் சொல்லப்படும்; அதிலே நம்முடைய கர்த்தரும் சிலுவையிலே அறையப்பட்டார்.

அவன் தாமதித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது கர்த்தர் அவன்மேல் வைத்த இரக்கத்தினாலே, அந்தப் புருஷர் அவன் கையையும், அவன் மனைவியின் கையையும், அவன் இரண்டு குமாரத்திகளின் கையையும் பிடித்து, அவனைப் பட்டணத்திற்கு வெளியே கொண்டுபோய் விட்டார்கள்.

கர்த்தர் தமது கோபத்திலும் தமது உக்கிரத்திலும் சோதோமையும் கொமோராவையும் அத்மராவையும் செபோரையும் கவிழ்த்துப்போட்டதுபோல, இந்த தேசத்தின் நிலங்களெல்லாம் விதைப்பும் விளைவும் யாதொரு பூண்டின் முளைப்புமில்லாதபடிக்கு, கந்தகத்தாலும் உப்பாலும் எரிக்கப்பட்டதைக் காணும்போதும்,

சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் நமக்குக் கொஞ்சம் மீதியை வைக்காதிருந்தாரானால், நாம் சோதோமைப்போலாகி, கொமோராவுக்கு ஒத்திருப்போம்.

தேவன் சோதோமையும் கொமோராவையும் அதின் சுற்றுப்புறங்களையும் கவிழ்த்துப்போட்டதுபோல இதையும் கவிழ்த்துப்போடுவேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; ஒருவரும் அதில் குடியிருப்பதில்லை, ஒரு மனுபுத்திரனும் அதில் தங்குவதுமில்லை.

எப்பிராயீமே, நான் உன்னை எப்படிக் கைவிடுவேன்? இஸ்ரவேலே, நான் உன்னை எப்படி ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன்? நான் உன்னை எப்படி அத்மாவைப்போலாக்குவேன்? உன்னை எப்படி செபோயீமைப்போல வைப்பேன்? என் இருதயம் எனக்குள் குழம்புகிறது; என் பரிதாபங்கள் ஏகமாய்ப் பொங்குகிறது.

சோதோமையும் கொமோராவையும் தேவன் கவிழ்த்துப்போட்டதுபோல, உங்களைக் கவிழ்த்துப்போட்டேன்; நீங்கள் அக்கினியினின்று பறிக்கப்பட்ட கொள்ளியைப்போல இருந்தீர்கள்; ஆனாலும் நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் திரும்பாமற்போனீர்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.
