வனாந்தரத்தில் திராட்சக்குலைகளைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதுபோல இஸ்ரவேலைக் கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; அத்திமரத்தில் முதல்தரம் பழுத்த கனிகளைப்போல உங்கள் பிதாக்களைக் கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் பாகால்பேயோர் அண்டைக்குப்போய், இலச்சையானதற்குத் தங்களை ஒப்புவித்து, தாங்கள் நேசித்தவைகளைப்போலத் தாங்களும் அருவருப்புள்ளவர்களானார்கள்.

வனாந்திரத்தில் திராட்சைக்குலைகளைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதுபோல இஸ்ரவேலைக் கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; அத்திமரத்தில் முதல்முறை பழுத்த பழங்களைப்போல உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களைக் கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் பாகால்பேயோரிடம் போய், இழிவானதற்குத் தங்களை ஒப்புவித்து, தாங்கள் நேசித்தவைகளைப்போலத் தாங்களும் அருவருப்புள்ளவர்களானார்கள்.

நான் இஸ்ரவேலரைக் கண்டுக்கொண்டபோது, அவர்கள் வனாந்திரத்தில் இருக்கும் புதிய திராட்சைப்பழத்தைப்போன்று இருந்தார்கள். அத்திமரத்தில் பருவகாலத்தில் முதல் முதலாகப் பழுத்தப் பழங்களைப் போன்று இருந்தார்கள். ஆனால் அவர்கள் அதன்பிறகு பாகால்பேயேருக்கு வந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் மாறினார்கள். நான் அவர்களை அழுகிப்போன பழங்களை வெட்டுவதைப் போன்று, (அழிப்பதுபோன்று) வெட்ட வேண்டியதாயிருந்தது. அவர்கள் அவர்களால் நேசிக்கப்படுகிற பயங்கரமான பொருட்களை (அந்நிய தெய்வங்கள்) போன்று ஆனார்கள்.
