அப்பொழுது இந்த மூன்று பராக்கிரமசாலிகளும் பெலிஸ்தரின் பாளயத்திலே துணிந்து புகுந்துபோய், பெத்லகேமின் ஒலிமுகவாசலில் இருக்கிற கிணற்றிலே தண்ணீர் மொண்டு, தாவீதினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் அவன் அதைக் குடிக்க மனதில்லாமல் அதைக் கர்த்தருக்கென்று ஊற்றிப்போட்டு:

ஆனால் அந்த மூன்று பெரும் வீரர்களும் பெலிஸ்தரின் படைக்குள் புகுந்து சென்றனர். பெத்லகேமின் நகரவாயிலுக்கு அருகேயுள்ள கிணற்றிலிருந்து கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீர் எடுத்து வந்தனர். அம்முப்பெரும் வீரர்களும் அந்த தண்ணீரை தாவீதிடம் கொண்டு வந்தனர். ஆனால் தாவீது அதைக் குடிக்க மறுத்தான். கர்த்தருக்குக் காணிக்கையாக அதை நிலத்தில் ஊற்றிவிட்டான்.
