உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தும்படிக்கும், தம்முடைய கட்டளைகளை நீ கைக்கொள்வாயோ கைக்கொள்ளமாட்டாயோ என்று அவர் உன்னைச் சோதித்து, உன் இருதயத்திலுள்ளதை நீ அறியும்படிக்கும், உன்னை இந்த நாற்பது வருஷமளவும் வனாந்தரத்திலே நடத்திவந்த எல்லா வழியையும் நினைப்பாயாக.

இவைகளிலே கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்கிறவன் தேவனுக்குப் பிரியனும் மனுஷரால் அங்கிகரிக்கப்பட்டவனுமாயிருக்கிறான்.

மேலும், அநேக காரியங்களில் ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவனென்று நாங்கள் பலமுறை கண்டறிந்தவனும், இப்பொழுது உங்கள்மேலுள்ள மிகுந்த நம்பிக்கையினாலே அதிக ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவனுமாகிய நம்முடைய சகோதரனையும் இவர்களோடே கூட அனுப்பியிருக்கிறோம்.

தகப்பனுக்குப் பிள்ளை ஊழியஞ்செய்வதுபோல, அவன் என்னுடனேகூட சுவிசேஷத்தினிமித்தம் ஊழியஞ்செய்தானென்று அவனுடைய உத்தமகுணத்தை அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

மேலும், இவர்கள் முன்னதாகச் சோதிக்கப்படவேண்டும்; குற்றஞ்சாட்டப்படாதவர்களானால் உதவிக்காரராக ஊழியஞ்செய்யலாம்.

நீங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலேயும் கீழ்ப்படிந்திருக்கிறீர்களோ என்று உங்களைச் சோதித்தறியும்படி இப்படி எழுதினேன்,

எரஸ்து கொரிந்துபட்டணத்தில் இருந்துவிட்டான்; துரோப்பீமுவை மிலேத்துவில் வியாதிப்பட்டவனாக விட்டுவந்தேன்.
