இயேசு அதைக்கேட்டு அவ்விடம் விட்டு, படவில் ஏறி, வனாந்தரமான ஒரு இடத்துக்குப் போனார். ஜனங்கள் அதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டு, பட்டணங்களிலிருந்து கால்நடையாய் அவரிடத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்.

அவர் அதிகாலையில், இருட்டோடே எழுந்து புறப்பட்டு, வனாந்தரமான ஓரிடத்திற்குப்போய், அங்கே ஜெபம்பண்ணினார்.

அவனோ புறப்பட்டுப் போய்: இந்தச் சங்கதி எங்கும் விளங்கும்படியாகப் பிரசித்தம் பண்ணத்தொடங்கினான். அதினால் அவர் வெளியரங்கமாய் பட்டணத்தில் எங்கும் பிரவேசிக்கக்கூடாமல், வெளியே வனாந்தரமான இடங்களில் தங்கியிருந்தார்; எத்திசையிலுமிருந்து ஜனங்கள் அவரிடத்திற்கு வந்தார்கள்.

அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப் போகிறதை ஜனங்கள் கண்டார்கள். அவரை அறிந்த அநேகர் சகல பட்டணங்களிலுமிருந்து கால்நடையாய் அவ்விடத்திற்கு ஓடி, அவர்களுக்கு முன்னே அங்கே சேர்ந்து, அவரிடத்தில் கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

அந்நாட்களிலே, அவர் ஜெபம்பண்ணும்படி ஒரு மலையின்மேல் ஏறி, இராமுழுதும் தேவனை நோக்கி ஜெபம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்.

அப்பொழுது கதரேனருடைய சுற்றுப்புறத்திலுள்ள திரளான ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் மிகவும் பயமடைந்தபடியினாலே, தங்களை விட்டுப் போகும்படி அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள். அந்தப்படி அவர் படவில் ஏறி, திரும்பிப்போனார்.

அவர்கள் அவரை நோக்கி: நீர் எங்களுடனே தங்கியிரும், சாயங்காலமாயிற்று, பொழுதும் போயிற்று என்று அவரை வருந்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவர் அவர்களுடனே தங்கும்படி உள்ளே போனார்.

இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: நான் என்னை அனுப்பினவருடைய சித்தத்தின்படி செய்து அவருடைய கிரியையை முடிப்பதே என்னுடைய போஜனமாயிருக்கிறது.

சமாரியர் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து, தங்களிடத்தில் தங்கவேண்டுமென்று அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்; அவர் இரண்டுநாள் அங்கே தங்கினார்.

அப்பொழுது இயேசுவும் அவருடைய சீஷரும் அங்கே இல்லாததை ஜனங்கள் கண்டு, உடனே அந்தப் படவுகளில் ஏறி, இயேசுவைத் தேடிக்கொண்டு, கப்பர்நகூமுக்கு வந்தார்கள்.
