நான் தவிக்கிறதை அவர்கள் கேட்டாலும் என்னைத் தேற்றுவார் ஒருவரும் இல்லை; என் பகைஞர் எல்லாரும் எனக்கு வந்த ஆபத்தைக் கேட்டு, தேவரீர் அதைச் செய்தபடியால் சந்தோஷமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; நீர் கூறின நாளை வரப்பண்ணுவீர், அப்பொழுது அவர்களும் என்னைப்போலாவார்கள்.

அவளுடைய மக்களெல்லோரும் ஆகாரத்தைத்தேடித் தவிக்கிறார்கள்; தங்களுடைய உயிரைக் காப்பாற்றத் தங்களுக்குப் பிரியமானவைகளை ஆகாரத்துக்கென்று கொடுத்துவிட்டார்கள்; கர்த்தாவே, நோக்கிப்பாரும்; நினைக்கப்படாதவளானேன்.

எருசலேமின் அனைத்து ஜனங்களும் தவிக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் உணவுக்காக அலைகிறார்கள். அவர்கள் தங்கள் நல்ல பொருட்களை உணவுக்காக மாற்றிக் கொண்டார்கள். அவர்கள் உயிர் வாழ்வதற்காக இவற்றைச் செய்துகொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். எருசலேம் சொல்கிறது: “கர்த்தாவே என்னைப் பாரும்! ஜனங்கள் என்னை எப்படி வெறுக்கிறார்கள் பாரும்.
