ஆகையால் தேசத்தை உளவுபார்த்து வரும்படி, தாண் புத்திரர் தங்கள் கோத்திரத்திலே பலத்த மனுஷராகிய ஐந்து பேரைத் தங்கள் எல்லைகளில் இருக்கிற சோராவிலும் எஸ்தாவோலிலுமிருந்து அனுப்பி: நீங்கள் போய், தேசத்தை ஆராய்ந்துபார்த்து வாருங்கள் என்று அவர்களோடே சொன்னார்கள்; அவர்கள் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்தில் இருக்கிற மீகாவின் வீடுமட்டும் போய், அங்கே இராத்தங்கினார்கள்.

ஆகையால் தேசத்தை உளவுபார்த்து வரும்படி, தாண் மக்கள் தங்கள் கோத்திரத்திலே பலத்த மனிதர்களாகிய ஐந்து பேரைத் தங்கள் எல்லைகளில் இருக்கிற சோராவிலும் எஸ்தாவோலிலும் இருந்து அனுப்பி: நீங்கள் போய், தேசத்தை ஆராய்ந்துபார்த்து வாருங்கள் என்று அவர்களோடே சொன்னார்கள்; அவர்கள் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்தில் இருக்கிற மீகாவின் வீடுவரை போய், அங்கே இரவு தங்கினார்கள்.

எனவே தாண் கோத்திரத்தினர் ஏதேனும் நிலத்தைப் பார்த்து வருவதற்காக 5 வீரர்களை அனுப்பினார்கள். அவர்கள் குடியேற ஏற்ற இடத்தைக் கண்டு பிடிப்பதற்காகச் சென்றனர். அந்த 5 மனிதர்களும் சோரா, எஸ்தாவோல் ஆகிய நகரங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள். அவர்கள் தாணின் கோத்திரத்திலிருந்து தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டவர்கள். அவர்களிடம் “போய் நமக்காக நிலத்தைப் பார்த்து வாருங்கள்” என்று சொல்லப்பட்டது. அந்த 5 மனிதர்களும் எப்பிராயீமின் மலை நாட்டிற்கு வந்தனர். அவர்கள் மீகாவின் வீட்டிற்கு வந்து, இரவை அங்குக் கழித்தனர்.
