தாண் புத்திரரின் எல்லை அவர்களுக்கு ஒடுக்கமாயிருந்தபடியால், அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், லேசேமின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணி, அதைப் பிடித்து, பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் சங்கரித்து, அதைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொண்டு, அதிலே குடியிருந்து, லேசேமுக்குத் தங்கள் தகப்பனாகிய தாணுடைய நாமத்தின்படியே தாண் என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்.

தாண் கோத்திரத்தார்களின் எல்லை அவர்களுக்கு ஒடுக்கமாக இருந்தபடியால், அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், லேசேமின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்து, அதைப் பிடித்து, பட்டயத்தினால் அழித்து, அதைச் சொந்தமாக்கிக்கொண்டு, அதிலே குடியிருந்து, லேசேமுக்குத் தங்களுடைய தகப்பனாகிய தாணுடைய பெயரின்படியே தாண் என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்.

தாணின் ஜனங்கள் அவர்களுக்குரிய தேசத்தைப் பெறுவதில் தொல்லை நேர்ந்தது. பலமான பகைவர்கள் அங்கே இருந்தனர். தாண் ஜனங்களால் அவர்களை எளிதில் வெல்ல முடியவில்லை. லேசேமின் ஜனங்களுக்கு எதிராக தாண் ஜனங்கள் போர் செய்தனர். லேசேமைத் தோற்கடித்து அங்கு வாழ்ந்த ஜனங்களைக் கொன்றனர். லேசேம் என்னும் ஊரில் தாண் ஜனங்கள் வாழ்ந்தனர். அவர்கள் கோத்திரத்தின் தந்தையாகிய தாண் என்ற பெயரை அதற்குக் கொடுத்தனர்.

தாண் மக்களின் எல்லை ஒடுக்கமாக இருந்ததால், அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போய் இலசேமை முற்றுகையிட்டு வளைத்துக் கொண்டனர்; அதை வாள் முனையில் தாக்கித் தங்கள் உடைமையாக்கிக் கொண்டு அங்கு வாழ்ந்தனர். தங்கள் மூதாதையான தாணின் பெயரை ஒட்டி, இலசேமிற்குத் ‘தாண்’ என்று பெயரிட்டார்கள்.
