பின்பு லாபான் யாக்கோபை நோக்கி: நீ என் மருமகனாயிருப்பதினால், சும்மா எனக்கு வேலை செய்யலாமா? சம்பளம் எவ்வளவு கேட்கிறாய், சொல் என்றான்.

அவன் மூன்றாம் நாளிலும் ஏழாம் நாளிலும் தீட்டுக்கழிக்கும் தண்ணீரினால் தன்னைச் சுத்திகரிக்கவேண்டும்; அப்பொழுது சுத்தமாவான்; மூன்றாம் நாளிலும் ஏழாம் நாளிலும் தன்னைச் சுத்திகரிக்காமல் இருந்தால் சுத்தமாகமாட்டான்.

அவன் தன்னைத் தீட்டுக்கழிக்கும் தண்ணீரால் மூன்றாவது நாளும், ஏழாவது நாளும் கழுவவேண்டும். அவ்வாறு அவன் செய்யாவிட்டால் தொடர்ந்து அவன் தீட்டுள்ளவனாக இருப்பான்.
