வானத்தின் நட்சத்திரங்களும் ராசிகளும் ஒளி கொடாதிருக்கும்; சூரியன் உதிக்கையில் இருண்டுபோம்; சந்திரன் ஒளி கொடாதிருக்கும்.

அந்த நாள் அந்தகாரப்படுவதாக; தேவன் உயரத்திலிருந்து அதை விசாரியாமலும், ஒளி அதின்மேல் பிரகாசியாமலும்,

காரிருளும் மரணாந்தகாரமுள்ள தேசமும், இருள் சூழ்ந்த ஒழுங்கில்லாத மரணாந்தகாரமுள்ள தேசமும், ஒளியும் இருளாகும் தேசமுமாகிய, போனால் திரும்பிவராத தேசத்துக்கு நான் போகுமுன்னே,

ஒரு மேய்ப்பன் சிதறுண்ட தன் ஆடுகளின் நடுவே இருக்கிற நாளில் தன் மந்தையைத் தேடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறதுபோல, நான் என் ஆடுகளைத் தேடி, மப்பும் மந்தாரமுமான நாளிலே அவைகள் சிதறுண்டுபோன எல்லா இடங்களிலுமிருந்து அவைகளைத் தப்பி வரப்பண்ணி,

ஆனாலும் நினிவேயின் ஸ்தானத்தை, புரண்டுவருகிற வெள்ளத்தினால் சர்வசங்காரம்பண்ணுவார்; இருள் அவர் சத்துருக்களைப் பின்தொடரும்.

அந்த நாள் உக்கிரத்தின் நாள்; அது இக்கட்டும் இடுக்கமுமான நாள்; அது அழிவும் பாழ்க்கடிப்புமான நாள்; அது இருளும் அந்தகாரமுமான நாள்; அது மப்பும் மந்தாரமுமான நாள்.

அப்பொழுது, ராஜா பணிவிடைக்காரரை நோக்கி: இவனைக் கையுங்காலும் கட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், அழுகையும் பற்கடிப்பும் உண்டாயிருக்கிற புறம்பான இருளிலே போடுங்கள் என்றான்.

தங்கள் அவமானங்களை நுரைதள்ளுகிற அமளியான கடலலைகளும், மார்க்கந்தப்பி அலைகிற நட்சத்திரங்களுமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; இவர்களுக்காக என்றென்றைக்கும் காரிருளே வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
