ஆகிலும் யோவாபும் இராணுவத்தலைவரும் சொன்ன வார்த்தை செல்லாதபடிக்கு, ராஜாவின் வார்த்தை பலத்தது; அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களைத் தொகையிட, யோவாபும் இராணுவத்தலைவரும் ராஜாவைவிட்டு புறப்பட்டுப்போய்,

தாவீது அரசன் உறுதியாக யோவாபுக்கும் படைத் தலைவர்களுக்கும் ஜனங்கள் தொகையைக் கணக்கிடுமாறு கட்டளையிட்டார். எனவே யோவாபும் படைத் தலைவர்களும் இஸ்ரவேலின் ஜனங்கள் தொகையைக் கணக்கெடுக்க அரசனிடமிருந்து சென்றனர்.

இருப்பினும் யோவாபுக்கும் படைத்தலைவருக்கும் எதிராக அரசரின் வார்த்தையே நிலைத்தது. இஸ்ரயேல் வீரர்களைக் கணக்கிடுவதற்காக யோவாபும் படைத் தலைவர்களும் அரசர் முன்னிலையினின்று புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றனர்.⒫
