ரெகொபெயாம் தன்னுடைய மனைவிகள் மறுமனையாட்டிகள் எல்லாரிலும், அப்சலோமின் குமாரத்தியாகிய மாகாளை சிநேகித்தான்; பதினெட்டு மனைவிகளையும் அறுபது மறுமனையாட்டிகளையும் விவாகம்பண்ணி, இருபத்தெட்டுக் குமாரரையும் அறுபது குமாரத்திகளையும் பெற்றான்.

ரெகொபொயாமுக்கும் யெரொபெயாமுக்கும் அவர்கள் இருந்த நாட்களிலெல்லாம் யுத்தம் நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தது.

சேலா, எலேப், எருசலேமாகிய எபூசி, கீபெயாத், கீரெயாத் என்னும் பதினான்கு பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளின் கிராமங்களுமே; பென்யமீன் புத்திரருக்கு அவர்கள் வம்சங்களின்படி இருக்கிற சுதந்தரம் இதுவே.

அப்படியே அப்பாலே நடந்துபோனார்கள்; பென்யமீன் நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த கிபியாவின் கிட்ட வருகையில், சூரியன் அஸ்தமனமாயிற்று.

வயலிலே வேலைசெய்து, மாலையிலே திரும்புகிற ஒரு கிழவன் வந்தான்; அந்த மனுஷனும் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்தான், அவன் கிபியாவிலே சஞ்சரிக்கவந்தான்; அவ்விடத்து மனுஷரோ பென்யமீனர்.

சவுலும் கிபியாவிலிருக்கிற தன் வீட்டுக்குப் போனான்; இராணுவத்தில் தேவன் எவர்கள் மனதை ஏவினாரோ, அவர்களும் அவனோடேகூடப் போனார்கள்.
