அப்பொழுது அந்த மூன்றுபேர் பெலிஸ்தரின் பாளயத்திற்குள் துணிந்து புகுந்துபோய், பெத்லகேமின் ஒலிமுகவாசலிலிருக்கிற கிணற்றிலே தண்ணீர் மொண்டு தாவீதினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் அவன் அதைக் குடிக்க மனதில்லாமல் அதைக் கர்த்தருக்கென்று ஊற்றிப்போட்டு:

ஆனால் மூன்று பேரும் பெலிஸ்தரோடு வழியில் போரிட்ட பிறகே உள்ளே நுழைய முடிந்தது. அவர்கள் பெத்லேகேம் வாசல் அருகில் உள்ள கிணற்று தண்ணீரைக் கொண்டுவந்து தாவீதிடம் கொடுத்தனர். தாவீது அதனைக் குடிக்க மறுத்துவிட்டான். அதனை கர்த்தருக்கு காணிக்கையாகத் தரையில் ஊற்றினான்.
