மத்தேயு 6:24
இரண்டு எஜமான்களுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்ய ஒருவனாலும் கூடாது; ஒருவனைப் பகைத்து ஒருவனைச் சிநேகிப்பான். அல்லது ஒருவனைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு மற்றவனை அசட்டைபண்ணுவான்; தேவனுக்கும் உலகப் பொருளுக்கும் ஊழியஞ்செய்ய உங்களால் கூடாது.
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. All of you cannot serve God and mammon.

பண ஆசை எல்லாத் தீமைக்கும் வேராயிருக்கிறது; சிலர் அதை இச்சித்து, விசுவாசத்தைவிட்டு வழுவி, தங்களை உருவக் குத்திக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
ஏசாயா 44:15
மனுஷனுக்கு அவைகள் அடுப்புக்காகும்போது, அவன் அவைகளில் எடுத்துக் குளிர்காய்கிறான்; நெருப்பைமூட்டி அப்பமும் சுடுகிறான்; அதினால் ஒரு தெய்வத்தையும் உண்டுபண்ணி, அதைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளுகிறான்; ஒரு விக்கிரகத்தையும் அதினால் செய்து, அதை வணங்குகிறான்.
Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindles it, and bakes bread; yea, he makes a god, and worships it; he makes it a graven image, and falls down thereto.
ஏசாயா 44:17
அதில் மீதியான துண்டைத் தனக்கு விக்கிரகதெய்வமாகச் செய்து, அதற்குமுன் விழுந்து, அதை வணங்கி; நீ என் தெய்வம், என்னை இரட்சிக்க வேண்டும் என்று அதை நோக்கி மன்றாடுகிறான்.
And the residue thereof he makes a god, even his graven image: he falls down unto it, and worships it, and prays unto it, and says, Deliver me; for you are my god.

மேலே வானத்திலும், கீழே பூமியிலும், பூமியின்கீழ்த் தண்ணீரிலும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறவைகளுக்கு ஒப்பான ஒரு சொரூபத்தையாகிலும் யாதொரு விக்கிரகத்தையாகிலும் நீ உனக்கு உண்டாக்க வேண்டாம்;
You shall not make unto you any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

சித்திரக்காரனுக்கு அவன் செய்த சுரூபமும், ஊமையான தெய்வங்களை உண்டுபண்ணித் தான் உருவாக்கின சுரூபத்தை நம்பினவனுக்கு வார்க்கப்பட்டதும் பொய்ப்போதகம் பண்ணுகிறதுமான விக்கிரகமும் என்னத்துக்கு உதவும்?
What profits the graven image that the maker thereof has graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusts therein, to make dumb idols?
