2 நாளாகமம் 7:14
என் நாமம் தரிக்கப்பட்ட என் ஜனங்கள் தங்களைத் தாழ்த்தி, ஜெபம்பண்ணி, என் முகத்தைத் தேடி, தங்கள் பொல்லாத வழிகளைவிட்டுத் திரும்பினால், அப்பொழுது பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற நான் கேட்டு, அவர்கள் பாவத்தை மன்னித்து, அவர்கள் தேசத்துக்கு ேமத்தைக் கொடுப்பேன்.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
1 பேதுரு 5:5
அந்தப்படி, இளைஞரே, மூப்பருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியுங்கள். நீங்களெல்லாரும் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் கீழ்ப்படிந்து, மனத்தாழ்மையை அணிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்; பெருமையுள்ளவர்களுக்குத் தேவன் எதிர்த்து நிற்கிறார், தாழ்மையுள்ளவர்களுக்கோ கிருபை அளிக்கிறார்.
Likewise, all of you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

விக்கிரகாராதனை, பில்லிசூனியம், பகைகள், விரோதங்கள், வைராக்கியங்கள், கோபங்கள், சண்டைகள், பிரிவினைகள், மார்க்கபேதங்கள்,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, worldy jealousies, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
கலாத்தியர் 5:21
பொறாமைகள், கொலைகள், வெறிகள், களியாட்டுகள் முதலானவைகளே; இப்படிப்பட்டவைகளைச் செய்கிறவர்கள் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தைச் சுதந்தரிப்பதில்லையென்று முன்னே நான் சொன்னதுபோல இப்பொழுதும் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

அசதியாயிராமல் ஜாக்கிரதையாயிருங்கள்; ஆவியிலே அனலாயிருங்கள்; கர்த்தருக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்யுங்கள்.
Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

நம்பிக்கையிலே சந்தோஷமாயிருங்கள்; உபத்திரவத்திலே பொறுமையாயிருங்கள்; ஜெபத்திலே உறுதியாய்த் தரித்திருங்கள்.

எஸ்றா 8:21
அப்பொழுது நாங்கள் எங்கள் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக எங்களைத் தாழ்த்துகிறதற்கும், எங்களுக்காகவும் எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகவும் எங்கள் சகல பொருள்களுக்காகவும் செவ்வையான வழியைத் தேடுகிறதற்கும், நான் அங்கே அந்த அகாவா நதியண்டையிலே உபவாசத்தைக் கூறினேன்.
Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
மத்தேயு 6:16
நீங்கள் உபவாசிக்கும்போது, மாயக்காரைப்போல முகவாடலாய் இராதேயுங்கள்; அவர்கள் உபவாசிக்கிறதை மனுஷர் காணும் பொருட்டாக, தங்கள் முகங்களை வாடப்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் பலனை அடைந்து தீர்ந்ததென்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
Moreover when all of you fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
மத்தேயு 6:17
நீயோ உபவாசிக்கும்போது, அந்த உபவாசம் மனுஷர்களுக்குக் காணப்படாமல், அந்தரங்கத்திலிருக்கிற உன் பிதாவுக்கே காணப்படும்படியாக, உன் தலைக்கு எண்ணெய் பூசி, உன் முகத்தைக் கழுவு.
But you, when you fast, anoint yours head, and wash your face;

அப்பொழுது, அந்தரங்கத்தில் பார்க்கிற உன் பிதா உனக்கு வெளியரங்கமாய்ப் பலனளிப்பார்.
That you appear not unto men to fast, but unto your Father which is in secret: and your Father, which sees in secret, shall reward you openly.
ஏசாயா 58:3
நாங்கள் உபவாசம்பண்ணும்போது நீர் நோக்காமலிருக்கிறதென்ன? நாங்கள் எங்கள் ஆத்துமாக்களை ஒடுக்கும்போது நீர் அதை அறியாமலிருக்கிறதென்ன என்கிறார்கள்; இதோ, நீங்கள் உபவாசிக்கும் நாளிலே உங்கள் இச்சையின்படி நடந்து, உங்கள் வேலைகளையெல்லாம் கட்டாயமாய்ச் செய்கிறீர்கள்.
Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and you see not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and you take no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast all of you find pleasure, and exact all your labours.
ஏசாயா 58:4
இதோ, வழக்குக்கும் வாதுக்கும் துஷ்டத்தனத்தையுடைய கையினால் குத்துகிறதற்கும் உபவாசிக்கிறீர்கள்; நீங்கள் உங்கள் கூக்குரலை உயரத்திலே கேட்கப்பண்ணும்படியாய், இந்நாளில் உபவாசிக்கிறதுபோல் உபவாசியாதிருங்கள்
Behold, all of you fast for strife and debate, and to strike with the fist of wickedness: all of you shall not fast as all of you do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.
ஏசாயா 58:5
மனுஷன் தன் ஆத்துமாவை ஒடுக்குகிறதும், தலைவணங்கி நாணலைப்போல் இரட்டிலும் சாம்பலிலும் படுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறதும், எனக்குப் பிரியமான உபவாச நாளாயிருக்குமோ இதையா உபவாசமென்றும் கர்த்தருக்குப் பிரியமான நாளென்றும் சொல்லுவாய்?
Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?
ஏசாயா 58:6
அக்கிரமத்தின் கட்டுகளை அவிழ்க்கிறதும், நுகத்தடியின் பிணையல்களை நெகிழ்க்கிறதும், நெருக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறவர்களை விடுதலையாக்கிவிடுகிறதும், சகல நுகத்தடிகளையும் உடைத்துப்போடுகிறதும்,
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that all of you break every yoke?
ஏசாயா 58:7
பசியுள்ளவனுக்கு உன் ஆகாரத்தைப் பகிர்ந்துகொடுக்கிறதும், துரத்துண்ட சிறுமையானவர்களை வீட்டிலே சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளுகிறதும், வஸ்திரமில்லாதவனைக்கண்டால் அவனுக்கு வஸ்திரங் கொடுக்கிறதும், உன் மாம்சமானவனுக்கு உன்னை ஒளிக்காமலிருக்கிறதும் அல்லவோ எனக்கு உகந்த உபவாசம்.
Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? when you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you hide not yourself from yours own flesh?
ஏசாயா 58:8
அப்பொழுது விடியற்கால வெளுப்பைப்போல உன் வெளிச்சம் எழும்பி உன் சுகவாழ்வு சீக்கிரத்தில் துளிர்த்து உன் நீதி உனக்கு முன்னாலே செல்லும்; கர்த்தருடைய மகிமை உன்னைப் பின்னாலே காக்கும்.
Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and yours health shall spring forth speedily: and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
ஏசாயா 58:9
அப்பொழுது நீ கூப்பிடுவாய், கர்த்தர் மறுஉத்தரவு கொடுப்பார்; நீ சத்தமிடுவாய்: இதோ, நான் இருக்கிறேன் என்று சொல்லுவார். நுகத்தடியையும் விரல் நீட்டுதலையும் நிபச்சொல்லையும், நீ உன் நடுவிலிருந்து அகற்றி,
Then shall you call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting out of the finger, and speaking vanity;
