పట్టణములోనికి పోవుదమనుకొంటిమా పట్టణమందు క్షామమున్నం దున అచ్చట చచ్చిపోదుము; ఇచ్చట ఊరక కూర్చున్నను ఇచ్చటను చచ్చిపోదుము; పదండి, సిరియనుల దండుపేట లోనికి, పోవుదము రండి, వారు మనలను బ్రదుకనిచ్చిన బ్రదుకుదుము, మనలను చంపిన చత్తుము అని చెప్పుకొని

| we sit still | יָשַׁ֥בְנוּ | yāšabnû | ya-SHAHV-noo |

| Now also. | וְעַתָּ֗ה | wĕʿattâ | veh-ah-TA |
| therefore come, | לְכוּ֙ | lĕkû | leh-HOO |
| and let us fall | וְנִפְּלָה֙ | wĕnippĕlāh | veh-nee-peh-LA |
| unto | אֶל | ʾel | el |
| host the | מַֽחֲנֵ֣ה | maḥănē | ma-huh-NAY |
| of the Syrians: | אֲרָ֔ם | ʾărām | uh-RAHM |
| if | אִם | ʾim | eem |
| alive, us save they | יְחַיֻּ֣נוּ | yĕḥayyunû | yeh-ha-YOO-noo |
| we shall live; | נִֽחְיֶ֔ה | niḥĕye | nee-heh-YEH |
| and if | וְאִם | wĕʾim | veh-EEM |
| kill they | יְמִיתֻ֖נוּ | yĕmîtunû | yeh-mee-TOO-noo |
| us, we shall but die. | וָמָֽתְנוּ׃ | wāmātĕnû | va-MA-teh-noo |
