੧ ਸਲਾਤੀਨ 3:21
ਅਗਲੀ ਸਵੇਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਦੁੱਧ ਪਿਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉੱਠੀ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਬੱਚਾ ਤਾਂ ਮਰਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਤੋਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।”

| dead: was it | מֵ֑ת | mēt | mate |
| considered had I when but | וָֽאֶתְבּוֹנֵ֤ן | wāʾetbônēn | va-et-boh-NANE |
| אֵלָיו֙ | ʾēlāyw | ay-lav | |
| it in the morning, | בַּבֹּ֔קֶר | babbōqer | ba-BOH-ker |
| behold, | וְהִנֵּ֛ה | wĕhinnē | veh-hee-NAY |
| was it | לֹֽא | lōʾ | loh |
| not | הָיָ֥ה | hāyâ | ha-YA |
| my son, | בְנִ֖י | bĕnî | veh-NEE |
| which | אֲשֶׁ֥ר | ʾăšer | uh-SHER |
| I did bear. | יָלָֽדְתִּי׃ | yālādĕttî | ya-LA-deh-tee |
