Ezra 8
1 ਅਜ਼ਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੜਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਚੀ ਇਹ ਸੂਚੀ ਘਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਂਸਾਵਲੀ ਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਰਤਹਸ਼ਸ਼ਤਾ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਬਲ ਤੋਂ (ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ) ਆਏ।
2 ਫੀਨਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਗੇਰਸ਼ੋਮ, ਈਬਾਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦਾਨੀਏਲ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੱਟੂਸ਼।
3 ਸ਼ਕਨਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਨ: ਫਰੋਸ਼ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ, ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ 150 ਹੋਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
4 ਪਹਬ ਮੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ, ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਲਯਹੋਏਨਈ ਅਤੇ 200 ਆਦਮੀ।
5 ਜ਼ੱਤੂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ, ਯਹਜ਼ੀਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਕਨਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ 300 ਹੋਰ ਆਦਮੀ।
6 ਆਦੀਨ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਬਦ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ 50 ਆਦਮੀ।
7 ਏਲਾਮ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ, ਅਬਲਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਸ਼ਆਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ 70 ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ।
8 ਸ਼ਫਟਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮੀਕਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜ਼ਬਦਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ 80 ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ,
9 ਯੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਯਹੀਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਓਬਦਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ 218 ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ;
10 ਬਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ, ਸ਼ਲੋਮੀਬ, ਯਸਿਫਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ 160 ਹੋਰ ਆਦਮੀ।
11 ਬੇਬਾਈ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ, ਬੇਬਾਈ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ 28 ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ;
12 ਅਜ਼ਗਾਦ ਦੀ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੱਕਟਾਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਹਾਨਾਨ ਅਤੇ 110 ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ;
13 ਅਦੋਨੀਕਾਮ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰਲੀ ਵੰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 60 ਅਲੀਫਲਟ, ਯਈਏਲ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਮਅਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਠ ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ;
14 ਬਿਗਵਈ ਦੀ ਵੰਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਨ ਊਬਈ, ਜ਼ੱਬੂਦ ਅਤੇ 70 ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ।
15 ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸੀ ਮੈਂ, (ਅਜ਼ਰਾ) ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਹਵਾ ਵੱਲ ਵਹਿੰਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨ ਅਸੀਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਡੇਰੇ ਲਾਏ। ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਟੋਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਜਕ ਤਾਂ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਲੇਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
16 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਅਲੀਅਜ਼ਰ, ਅਰੀਏਲ, ਸਮਅਸਾਹ, ਅਲਨਾਥਾਨ, ਯਾਰੀਬ, ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਮਸ਼ੁੱਲਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਯੋਯਾਰੀਬ ਅਤੇ ਅਲਨਾਬਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸੱਦਿਆ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਉਸਤਾਦ ਸਨ।
17 ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਦੋ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਕਾਸਿਫਯਾ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਇੱਦੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਆਖਣਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਕਾਸਿਫਯਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰ ਸਨ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਦੋ ਕੋਲ ਇਸ ਉਮੀਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਇੱਦੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜ ਦੇਵੇ।
18 ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਸਾਡਾ ਪੱਖ ਲੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇੱਦੋ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਵੱਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ: ਸ਼ੇਰੇਬਯਾਹ, ਮਹਲੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਬੁੱਧੀਮਾਨ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ (ਮਹਲੀ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ।) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਾਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਕੁੱਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਓੱਥੇ 18 ਆਦਮੀ ਸਨ।
19 ਮਮਰੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਯਸ਼ਾਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਹਸ਼ਬਯਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਉਸ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਉਹ ਕੁੱਲ 20 ਆਦਮੀ ਸਨ।
20 ਨਬੀਨਮੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਬਾਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, 220 ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾ ਉਸ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਨ।
21 ਉੱਥੇ ਅਹਵਾ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ, ਮੈਂ (ਅਜ਼ਰਾ) ਨੇ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਭਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਬਣਾਕੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋ ਸੱਕੀਏ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਲ ਅਸਬਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰੀਏ।
22 ਮੈਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਰਤਰਸ਼ਸ਼ਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਫ਼ਰ ’ਚ ਸਾਡੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਸਨ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜ-ਸਵਾਰ ਮੰਗਣ ’ਚ ਲੱਜਾ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤੀ। ਮੇਰੀ ਲਾਜ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਇਹ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ “ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਬੜਾ ਕਰੋਧ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਉੱਠਦੇ ਹਨ।”
23 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਲਈ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਦਾ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
24 ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਜਕ ਚੁਣੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਗੂ ਸਨ। ਮੈਂ ਸੇਰੇਬਯਾਹ, ਹਸ਼ਬਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਸ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਚੁਣਿਆ।
25 ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਚਾਂਦੀ, ਸੋਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ, ਤੋਂਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਚੁਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ। ਅਰਤਹਸ਼ਸ਼ਤਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਖਾਸ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਲ ’ਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਲਈ ਭੇਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
26 ਮੈਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਂਲਿਆ। ਓੱਥੇ 22,100 ਕਿਲੋ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਅਤੇ 3,400 ਕਿਲੋ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਬਰਤਨ ਅਤੇ 3,400 ਕਿਲੋ ਸੋਨਾ ਸੀ।
27 ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀਹ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਕਟੋਰੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਜ਼ਨ 8.5 ਕਿੱਲੋ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਬੜੇ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਿ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਚਮਕਦੇ ਪਿੱਤਲ ਦੇ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਉਹ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਇਹ ਸੋਨੇ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਹੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਦੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਮੁੱਲਵਾਨ ਸਨ।
28 ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ: “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਾਮਾਨ ਵੀ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈ।
29 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰੋ ਜਦ ਤੀਕ ਇਹ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਦ ਤੀਕ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਹੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਕਮਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖੋਗੇ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੋਂਲ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖ ਲਵੇਗੀ।”
30 ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਚਾਂਦੀ, ਸੋਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਖਾਸ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਅਜ਼ਰਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਂਲ ਕੇ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਈਆਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
31 ਪਹਿਲੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਵੇਂ ਦਿਨ ਅਸੀਂ ਅਹਵਾ ਨਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਲ ਪਏ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਰਾਹ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਡਾਕੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ।
32 ਤਦ ਅਸੀਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ। ਫਿਰ ਉਬੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨ ਅਰਾਮ ਕੀਤਾ।
33 ਚੌਬੇ ਦਿਨ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ’ਚ ਜਾਕੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ, ਸੋਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਮੁੱਲਵਾਨ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਂਲਿਆ। ਫਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਉਰੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਰੇਮੋਬ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ। ਓੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਫੀਨਹਾਸ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਲਆਜ਼ਾਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਯੇਸ਼ੂਆ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਜ਼ਾਬਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨੂੰਈ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੋਅਦਯਾਹ ਲੇਵੀ ਵੀ ਸਨ।
34 ਅਸੀਂ ਸਭ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ-ਮਿਣਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾ ਦਾ ਕੁੱਲ ਤੋਂਲ ਲਿਖਿਆ।
35 ਫਿਰ ਜਲਾਵਤਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੈਦ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤੇ ਸਨ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਆਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਲਈ 12 ਬਲਦ, 96 ਭੇਡੂ, 77 ਲੇਲੇ ਅਤੇ 12 ਬੱਕਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੀ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਏ। ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੋਮ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਸੀ।
36 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾ ਖਤ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਰਾਤ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੱਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਪਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
1 These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.
2 Of the sons of Phinehas; Gershom: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Hattush.
3 Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males an hundred and fifty.
4 Of the sons of Pahath-moab; Elihoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males.
5 Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.
6 Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.
7 And of the sons of Elam; Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males.
8 And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him fourscore males.
9 Of the sons of Joab; Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.
10 And of the sons of Shelomith; the son of Josiphiah, and with him an hundred and threescore males.
11 And of the sons of Bebai; Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight males.
12 And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him an hundred and ten males.
13 And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.
14 Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.
15 And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.
16 Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.
17 And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.
18 And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;
19 And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;
20 Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.
21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
22 For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.
23 So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
24 Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,
25 And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellers, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:
26 I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;
27 Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.
28 And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the Lord; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the Lord God of your fathers.
29 Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the Lord.
30 So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.
31 Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
32 And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.
33 Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;
34 By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.
35 Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the Lord.
36 And they delivered the king’s commissions unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
1 When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;
2 And came even before the king’s gate: for none might enter into the king’s gate clothed with sackcloth.
3 And in every province, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
4 So Esther’s maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.
5 Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king’s chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.
6 So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king’s gate.
7 And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king’s treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.
8 Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.
9 And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.
10 Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;
11 All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
12 And they told to Mordecai Esther’s words.
13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.
14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
15 Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,
16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
17 So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.
