അവർ മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു മരിച്ചുപോകും എന്നു യഹോവ അവരെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. യെഫുന്നെയുടെ മകൻ കാലേബും നൂന്റെ മകൻ യോശുവയും ഒഴികെ അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തനും ശേഷിച്ചില്ല.

For	כִּֽי	kî	kee
the Lord	אָמַ֤ר	ʾāmar	ah-MAHR
had said	יְהוָה֙	yĕhwāh	yeh-VA
surely shall They them, of	לָהֶ֔ם	lāhem	la-HEM
die	מ֥וֹת	môt	mote
wilderness. the in	יָמֻ֖תוּ	yāmutû	ya-MOO-too
And there was not	בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר	bammidbār	ba-meed-BAHR
left	וְלֹֽא	wĕlōʾ	veh-LOH
a man	נוֹתַ֤ר	nôtar	noh-TAHR
of them, save	מֵהֶם֙	mēhem	may-HEM
	אִ֔ישׁ	ʾîš	eesh
Caleb	כִּ֚י	kî	kee
son the	אִם	ʾim	eem
of Jephunneh,	כָּלֵ֣ב	kālēb	ka-LAVE
and Joshua	בֶּן	ben	ben
the son	יְפֻנֶּ֔ה	yĕpunne	yeh-foo-NEH
of Nun.	וִֽיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ	wîhôšuaʿ	vee-hoh-SHOO-ah
	בִּן	bin	been
	נֽוּן׃	nûn	noon
