ദാവീദ് ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുന്നതു ശൌൽ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ സേനാധിപതിയായ അബ്നേരിനോടു: അബ്നേരേ, ഈ ബാല്യക്കാരൻ ആരുടെ മകൻ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അബ്നേർ: രാജാവേ, തിരുമേനിയാണ ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
