Ecclesiastes 1:17
ಜ್ಞಾನ ವನ್ನೂ ಹುಚ್ಚುತನವನ್ನೂ ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನತೆಯನ್ನೂ ತಿಳು ಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ನಾನು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಟ್ಟೆನು; ಇದು ಸಹ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಆಯಾಸವೆಂದು ನಾನು ಅರಿತುಕೊಂಡೆನು.

ನನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಬಯಸಿದ್ದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ಹಿಂತೆಗೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಯಾವ ಸಂತೋಷಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೂ ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ನಾನು ತಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ; ನನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಯಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವು ಸಂತೋಷಿಸಿತು; ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಯಾಸ ದಿಂದೆಲ್ಲಾ ನನಗಾದ ಪಾಲು ಇದೆ.

ಇದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಆಗ--ನಾನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾಗಿರುವೆನು ಎಂದು ಅಂದು ಕೊಂಡೆನು; ಅದು ನನ್ನಿಂದ ದೂರವಾಯಿತು.
