ಭೂಮಿ ಯು ನಿರಾಕಾರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಶೂನ್ಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಇತ್ತು; ಅಗಾಧದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕತ್ತಲೆ ಇತ್ತು. ದೇವರ ಆತ್ಮನು ನೀರುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ದಿನದ ತಂಗಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೋಟದೊಳಗೆ ತಿರುಗಾಡುವ ಶಬ್ದವನ್ನು ಆದಾಮನೂ ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯೂ ಕೇಳಿ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಿಂದ ತೋಟದ ಮರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡರು.
ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು--ನನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮನು ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ವಿವಾದಮಾಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅವನು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಷ್ಟೆ. ಆದರೂ ಅವನ ದಿನಗಳು ಇನ್ನು ನೂರ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ವರುಷಗಳಾಗಿರುವವು ಅಂದನು.
ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ನಾನಾಗಿಯೇ ಆಕಾಶದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಜೀವಶ್ವಾಸವಿರುವವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಾಶ ಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಜಲಪ್ರಳಯವನ್ನು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಆಗ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸತ್ತುಹೋಗುವದು.
ಹೀಗೆ ಜೀವಶ್ವಾಸವಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಶರೀರಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಎರಡೆರಡು ನೋಹನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ನಾವೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಹೋದವು.
ಒಣ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದಂಥ ಮೂಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ವಾಸವಿರುವ ವುಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸತ್ತುಹೋದವು.
ಆಗ ದೇವರು ನೋಹನನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ನಾವೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜೀವರಾಶಿ ಗಳನ್ನೂ ಪಶುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ದೇವರು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಗಾಳಿ ಬೀಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿ ನೀರು ತಗ್ಗಿತು.
ಇವರು ಇಸಾಕನಿಗೂ ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ ಮನೋವ್ಯಥೆ ಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಅವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಕಳವಳಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಂತ್ರವಾದಿ ಗಳನ್ನೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕರೇಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಫರೋಹನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಕನಸನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅವುಗಳ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವವರು ಯಾರೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ಫರೋಹನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆಯೋಸೇಫನಂತೆ ದೇವರಾತ್ಮವುಳ್ಳ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಸಿಕ್ಕಾನೋ ಅಂದನು.
