તેણે બળદની એક જોડ લઈને તેમને કાપી કાપીને ટૂકડા કરી નાખ્યા. અને એ ટૂકડા સાથે સમગ્ર ઇસ્રાએલમાં કાસદો મોકલી તેણે એવો સંદેશો કહેવડાવ્યો કે, જે કોઈ શાઉલ તથા શમુએલની પાછળ નહિ આવે તેના બળદના આ હાલ થશે.”એટલે લોકોને યહોવાનો ભય લાગ્યો, ને એક મતે તેઓ સૌ નીકળી પડયા.
