இந்த இருபது வருஷகாலம் உம்முடைய வீட்டிலே இருந்தேன்; பதினாலு வருஷம் உம்முடைய இரண்டு குமாரத்திகளுக்காகவும், ஆறு வருஷம் உம்முடைய மந்தைக்காகவும் உம்மிடத்தில் சேவித்தேன்; பத்துமுறை என் சம்பளத்தை மாற்றினீர்.

அப்பொழுது லாபான் யாக்கோபின் கூடாரத்திலும், லேயாளின் கூடாரத்திலும், இரண்டு வேலைக்காரிகளின் கூடாரத்திலும் தேடிப் பார்த்தும் ஒன்றும் கண்டுபிடிக்கவில்லை; பின்பு, லேயாளின் கூடாரத்தைவிட்டு ராகேலின் கூடாரத்திற்குப் போனான்.

எனவே, லாபான் யாக்கோபின் கூடாரத்துக்குள் போய் தேடிப் பார்த்தான். பிறகு லேயாளின் கூடாரத்தில் தேடினான். இரு அடிமைப் பெண்கள் இருந்த கூடாரங்களிலும் தேடினான். ஆனால் திருட்டுப்போன தேவர்களின் சிலைகள் கிடைக்கவில்லை. பிறகு ராகேலின் கூடாரத்திற்குள் சென்றான்.
