நான் குடியிருக்கிற கானானியருடைய குமாரத்திகளில் நீ என் குமாரனுக்குப் பெண்கொள்ளாமல்;

ஏசா நாற்பது வயதானபோது ஏத்தியனான பெயேரியினுடைய குமாரத்தியாகிய யூதீத்தையும், ஏத்தியனான ஏலோனுடைய குமாரத்தியாகிய பஸ்மாத்தையும் விவாகம்பண்ணினான்.

கானானிய குமாரத்திகள் தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஈசாக்கின் பார்வைக்கு ஆகாதவர்கள் என்பதை ஏசா அறிந்ததினாலும்,

லேயாள் Jamesக்குப் பெற்ற குமாரத்தியாகிய தீனாள் தேசத்துப் பெண்களைப் பார்க்கப் புறப்பட்டாள்.

உம்முடைய கண்களிலே எனக்குக் கிருபை கிடைத்ததானால், இப்படி எனக்குச் செய்யாமல், என் உபத்திரவத்தை நான் காணாதபடிக்கு இப்பொழுதே என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடும் என்று வேண்டிக்கொண்டான்.

அவன் வனாந்தரத்தில் ஒருநாள் பிரபாணம் போய், ஒரு சூரைச்செடியின் கீழ் உட்கார்ந்து, தான் சாகவேண்டும் என்று கோரி: போதும் கர்த்தாவே, என் ஆத்துமாவை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்; நான் என் பிதாக்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் நல்லவன் அல்ல என்று சொல்லி,

மரணத்துக்கு ஆசையாய்க் காத்திருந்து, புதையலைத் தேடுகிறதுபோல அதைத் தேடியும் அடையாமற்போகிறவர்களும்,

இப்படியிருக்கிறதை அரோசிக்கிறேன், எந்நாளும் உயிரோடிருக்க விரும்பேன், என்னை விட்டுவிடும்; என் நாட்கள் மாயைதானே.

நீர் என்னைப் பாதாளத்தில் ஒளித்து, உமது கோபம் தீருமட்டும் என்னை மறைத்து, என்னைத் திரும்ப நினைக்கும்படிக்கு எனக்கு ஒரு காலத்தைக் குறித்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.

இப்போதும் கர்த்தாவே, என்பிராணனை என்னைவிட்டு எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்; நான் உயிரோடிருக்கிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும் சாகிறது நலமாயிருக்கும் என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது தேவன் Jonahவை நோக்கி: நீ ஆமணக்கினிமித்தம் எரிச்சலாயிருக்கிறது நல்லதோ என்றார்; அதற்கு அவன்: நான் மரணபரியந்தமும் எரிச்சலாயிருக்கிறது நல்லதுதான் என்றான்.
