கர்த்தர் ஆபிராமுக்குத் தரிசனமாகி: உன் சந்ததிக்கு இந்தத் தேசத்தைக் கொடுப்பேன் என்றார். அப்பொழுது அவன் தனக்குத் தரிசனமான கர்த்தருக்கு அங்கே ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டினான்.
