וָאֶרְאֶ֗ה Then I looked, rāʾâ וְהִנֵּ֤ה and, behold, hinnē אֶל in ʾēl הָרָקִ֙יעַ֙ the firmament rāqîaʿ אֲשֶׁר֙ that ʾăšer עַל was above ʿal רֹ֣אשׁ the head rōš הַכְּרֻבִ֔ים of the cherubims kĕrûb כְּאֶ֣בֶן stone, ʾeben סַפִּ֔יר them as it were a sapphire sappîr כְּמַרְאֵ֖ה as the appearance marʾe דְּמ֣וּת of the likeness dĕmût כִּסֵּ֑א of a throne. kissēʾ נִרְאָ֖ה there appeared rāʾâ עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ over ʿal

וַיֹּ֜אמֶר And he spake ʾāmar אֶל unto ʾēl הָאִ֣ישׁ׀ the man ʾîš לְבֻ֣שׁ clothed lābaš הַבַּדִּ֗ים with linen, bad וַיֹּ֡אמֶר and said, ʾāmar בֹּא֩ Go in bôʾ אֶל ʾēl בֵּינ֨וֹת between bên לַגַּלְגַּ֜ל the wheels, galgal אֶל ʾēl תַּ֣חַת under taḥat לַכְּר֗וּב the cherub, kĕrûb וּמַלֵּ֨א and fill mālēʾ חָפְנֶ֤יךָ thine hand ḥōpen גַֽחֲלֵי with coals geḥel אֵשׁ֙ of fire ʾēš מִבֵּינ֣וֹת from between bên לַכְּרֻבִ֔ים the cherubims, kĕrûb וּזְרֹ֖ק and scatter zāraq עַל over ʿal הָעִ֑יר the city. ʿîr וַיָּבֹ֖א And he went in bôʾ לְעֵינָֽי׃ in my sight. ʿayin

וְהַכְּרֻבִ֗ים Now the cherubims kĕrûb עֹֽמְדִ֛ים stood ʿāmad מִימִ֥ין on the right side yāmîn לַבַּ֖יִת of the house, bayit בְּבֹא֣וֹ went in; bôʾ הָאִ֑ישׁ when the man ʾîš וְהֶעָנָ֣ן and the cloud ʿānān מָלֵ֔א filled mālēʾ אֶת ʾēt הֶחָצֵ֖ר court. ḥāṣēr הַפְּנִימִֽית׃ the inner pĕnîmî

וַיָּ֤רָם went up rûm כְּבוֹד Then the glory kābôd יְהוָה֙ of the Lord yĕhōwâ מֵעַ֣ל from ʿal הַכְּר֔וּב the cherub, kĕrûb עַ֖ל over ʿal מִפְתַּ֣ן the threshold miptān הַבָּ֑יִת of the house; bayit וַיִּמָּלֵ֤א was filled mālēʾ הַבַּ֙יִת֙ and the house bayit אֶת with ʾēt הֶ֣עָנָ֔ן the cloud, ʿānān וְהֶֽחָצֵר֙ and the court ḥāṣēr מָֽלְאָ֔ה was full mālēʾ אֶת of ʾēt נֹ֖גַהּ the brightness nōgah כְּב֥וֹד glory. kābôd יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord's yĕhōwâ

וְקוֹל֙ And the sound qôl כַּנְפֵ֣י wings kānāp הַכְּרוּבִ֔ים of the cherubims' kĕrûb נִשְׁמַ֕ע was heard šāmaʿ עַד to ʿad הֶחָצֵ֖ר court, ḥāṣēr הַחִיצֹנָ֑ה the outer ḥîṣôn כְּק֥וֹל as the voice qôl אֵל God ʾēl שַׁדַּ֖י of the Almighty šadday בְּדַבְּרֽוֹ׃ when he speaketh. dābar

וַיְהִ֗י And it came to pass, hāyâ בְּצַוֹּתוֹ֙ when he had commanded ṣāwâ אֶת ʾēt הָאִ֤ישׁ the man ʾîš לְבֻֽשׁ clothed lābaš הַבַּדִּים֙ with linen, bad לֵאמֹ֔ר saying, ʾāmar קַ֥ח Take lāqaḥ אֵשׁ֙ fire ʾēš מִבֵּינ֣וֹת from between bên לַגַּלְגַּ֔ל the wheels, galgal מִבֵּינ֖וֹת from between bên לַכְּרוּבִ֑ים the cherubims; kĕrûb וַיָּבֹא֙ then he went in, bôʾ וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֔ד and stood ʿāmad אֵ֖צֶל beside ʾēṣel הָאוֹפָֽן׃ the wheels. ʾôpān

וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ stretched forth šālaḥ הַכְּר֨וּב And cherub kĕrûb אֶת ʾēt יָד֜וֹ his hand yād מִבֵּינ֣וֹת from between bên לַכְּרוּבִ֗ים the cherubims kĕrûb אֶל unto ʾēl הָאֵשׁ֙ the fire ʾēš אֲשֶׁר֙ that ʾăšer בֵּינ֣וֹת between bên הַכְּרֻבִ֔ים the cherubims, kĕrûb וַיִּשָּׂא֙ and took nāśāʾ וַיִּתֵּ֔ן and put nātan אֶל into ʾēl חָפְנֵ֖י the hands ḥōpen לְבֻ֣שׁ of clothed lābaš הַבַּדִּ֑ים with linen: bad וַיִּקַּ֖ח who took lāqaḥ וַיֵּצֵֽא׃ and went out. yāṣāʾ

וַיֵּרָ֖א And there appeared rāʾâ לַכְּרֻבִ֑ים in the cherubims kĕrûb תַּבְנִית֙ the form tabnît יַד hand yād אָדָ֔ם of a man's ʾādām תַּ֖חַת under taḥat כַּנְפֵיהֶֽם׃ their wings. kānāp

וָאֶרְאֶ֗ה And when I looked, rāʾâ וְהִנֵּ֨ה behold hinnē אַרְבָּעָ֣ה the four ʾarbaʿ אוֹפַנִּים֮ wheels ʾôpān אֵ֣צֶל by ʾēṣel הַכְּרוּבִים֒ the cherubims, kĕrûb אוֹפַ֣ן wheel ʾôpān אֶחָ֗ד one ʾeḥād אֵ֚צֶל by ʾēṣel הַכְּר֣וּב cherub, kĕrûb אֶחָ֔ד one ʾeḥād וְאוֹפַ֣ן wheel ʾôpān אֶחָ֔ד and another ʾeḥād אֵ֖צֶל by ʾēṣel הַכְּר֣וּב cherub: kĕrûb אֶחָ֑ד another ʾeḥād וּמַרְאֵה֙ and the appearance marʾe הָא֣וֹפַנִּ֔ים of the wheels ʾôpān כְּעֵ֖ין as the colour ʿayin אֶ֥בֶן stone. ʾeben תַּרְשִֽׁישׁ׃ of a beryl taršîš

וּמַ֨רְאֵיהֶ֔ם And their appearances, marʾe דְּמ֥וּת likeness, dĕmût אֶחָ֖ד had one ʾeḥād לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֑ם they four ʾarbaʿ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר as if ʾăšer יִהְיֶ֥ה had been hāyâ הָאוֹפַ֖ן a wheel ʾôpān בְּת֥וֹךְ in the midst tāwek הָאוֹפָֽן׃ of a wheel. ʾôpān

בְּלֶכְתָּ֗ם When they went, hālak אֶל upon ʾēl אַרְבַּ֤עַת their four ʾarbaʿ רִבְעֵיהֶם֙ sides; rebaʿ יֵלֵ֔כוּ they went hālak לֹ֥א not lōʾ יִסַּ֖בּוּ they turned sābab בְּלֶכְתָּ֑ם as they went, hālak כִּ֣י but kî הַמָּק֞וֹם to the place māqôm אֲשֶׁר whither ʾăšer יִפְנֶ֤ה looked pānâ הָרֹאשׁ֙ the head rōš אַחֲרָ֣יו ʾaḥar יֵלֵ֔כוּ they followed hālak לֹ֥א not lōʾ יִסַּ֖בּוּ it; they turned sābab בְּלֶכְתָּֽם׃ as they went. hālak

וְכָל And their whole kōl בְּשָׂרָם֙ body, bāśār וְגַבֵּהֶ֔ם and their backs, gab וִֽידֵיהֶ֖ם and their hands, yād וְכַנְפֵיהֶ֑ם and their wings, kānāp וְהָאֽוֹפַנִּ֗ים and the wheels, ʾôpān מְלֵאִ֤ים full mālēʾ עֵינַ֙יִם֙ of eyes ʿayin סָבִ֔יב round about, sābîb לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֖ם that they four had. ʾarbaʿ אוֹפַנֵּיהֶֽם׃ the wheels ʾôpān

לָא֖וֹפַנִּ֑ים As for the wheels, ʾôpān לָהֶ֛ם קוֹרָ֥א it was cried qārāʾ הַגַּלְגַּ֖ל O wheel. galgal בְּאָזְנָֽי׃ unto them in my hearing, ʾōzen

וְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה had four ʾarbaʿ פָנִ֖ים faces: pānîm לְאֶחָ֑ד And every one ʾeḥād פְּנֵ֨י face pānîm הָאֶחָ֜ד the first ʾeḥād פְּנֵ֣י the face pānîm הַכְּר֗וּב of a cherub, kĕrûb וּפְנֵ֤י face pānîm הַשֵּׁנִי֙ and the second šēnî פְּנֵ֣י the face pānîm אָדָ֔ם of a man, ʾādām וְהַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ and the third šĕlîšî פְּנֵ֣י the face pānîm אַרְיֵ֔ה of a lion, ʾărî וְהָרְבִיעִ֖י and the fourth rĕbîʿî פְּנֵי the face pānîm נָֽשֶׁר׃ of an eagle. nešer

וַיֵּרֹ֖מּוּ were lifted up. rāmam הַכְּרוּבִ֑ים And the cherubims kĕrûb הִ֣יא This hûʾ הַחַיָּ֔ה the living creature ḥay אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer רָאִ֖יתִי I saw rāʾâ בִּֽנְהַר by the river nāhār כְּבָֽר׃ of Chebar. kĕbār

וּבְלֶ֙כֶת֙ went, hālak הַכְּרוּבִ֔ים And when the cherubims kĕrûb יֵלְכ֥וּ went hālak הָאוֹפַנִּ֖ים the wheels ʾôpān אֶצְלָ֑ם by them: ʾēṣel וּבִשְׂאֵ֨ת lifted up nāśāʾ הַכְּרוּבִ֜ים and when the cherubims kĕrûb אֶת ʾēt כַּנְפֵיהֶ֗ם their wings kānāp לָרוּם֙ to mount up rûm מֵעַ֣ל from ʿal הָאָ֔רֶץ the earth, ʾereṣ לֹא not lōʾ יִסַּ֧בּוּ turned sābab הָאוֹפַנִּ֛ים wheels ʾôpān גַּם also gam הֵ֖ם the same hēm מֵאֶצְלָֽם׃ from beside them. ʾēṣel

בְּעָמְדָ֣ם When they stood, ʿāmad יַעֲמֹ֔דוּ stood; ʿāmad וּבְרוֹמָ֖ם and when they were lifted up, rûm יֵר֣וֹמּוּ lifted up rāmam אוֹתָ֑ם ʾēt כִּ֛י themselves for kî ר֥וּחַ the spirit rûaḥ הַחַיָּ֖ה of the living creature in them. ḥay בָּהֶֽם׃

וַיֵּצֵא֙ departed yāṣāʾ כְּב֣וֹד Then the glory kābôd יְהוָ֔ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ מֵעַ֖ל from off ʿal מִפְתַּ֣ן the threshold miptān הַבָּ֑יִת of the house, bayit וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד and stood ʿāmad עַל over ʿal הַכְּרוּבִֽים׃ the cherubims. kĕrûb

וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ lifted up nāśāʾ הַכְּרוּבִ֣ים And the cherubims kĕrûb אֶת ʾēt כַּ֠נְפֵיהֶם their wings, kānāp וַיֵּר֨וֹמּוּ and mounted up rāmam מִן from min הָאָ֤רֶץ the earth ʾereṣ לְעֵינַי֙ in my sight: ʿayin בְּצֵאתָ֔ם when they went out, yāṣāʾ וְהָאֽוֹפַנִּ֖ים the wheels ʾôpān לְעֻמָּתָ֑ם also beside ʿummâ וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֗ד them, and stood ʿāmad פֶּ֣תַח at the door petaḥ שַׁ֤עַר gate šaʿar בֵּית house; bayit יְהוָה֙ of the Lord's yĕhōwâ הַקַּדְמוֹנִ֔י of the east qadmônî וּכְב֧וֹד and the glory kābôd אֱלֹהֵֽי of the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם over ʿal מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃ them above. maʿal

הִ֣יא This hûʾ הַחַיָּ֗ה the living creature ḥay אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer רָאִ֛יתִי I saw rāʾâ תַּ֥חַת under taḥat אֱלֹהֵֽי the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl בִּֽנְהַר by the river nāhār כְּבָ֑ר of Chebar; kĕbār וָאֵדַ֕ע and I knew yādaʿ כִּ֥י that kî כְרוּבִ֖ים the cherubims. kĕrûb הֵֽמָּה׃ they hēm

אַרְבָּעָ֨ה had four ʾarbaʿ אַרְבָּעָ֤ה apiece, ʾarbaʿ פָנִים֙ faces pānîm לְאֶחָ֔ד Every one ʾeḥād וְאַרְבַּ֥ע four ʾarbaʿ כְּנָפַ֖יִם wings; kānāp לְאֶחָ֑ד and every one ʾeḥād וּדְמוּת֙ and the likeness dĕmût יְדֵ֣י of the hands yād אָדָ֔ם of a man ʾādām תַּ֖חַת under taḥat כַּנְפֵיהֶֽם׃ their wings. kānāp

וּדְמ֣וּת And the likeness dĕmût פְּנֵיהֶ֔ם of their faces pānîm הֵ֣מָּה the same hēm הַפָּנִ֗ים faces pānîm אֲשֶׁ֤ר which ʾăšer רָאִ֙יתִי֙ I saw rāʾâ עַל by ʿal נְהַר the river nāhār כְּבָ֔ר of Chebar, kĕbār מַרְאֵיהֶ֖ם their appearances marʾe וְאוֹתָ֑ם ʾēt אִ֛ישׁ every one ʾîš אֶל ʾēl עֵ֥בֶר straight ʿēber פָּנָ֖יו forward. pānîm יֵלֵֽכוּ׃ and themselves: they went hālak
