Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, he has made me an empty vessel, he has swallowed me up like a dragon, he has filled his belly with my delicates, he has cast me out.

பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் என்னைப் பட்சித்தான், என்னைக் கலங்கடித்தான், என்னை வெறும் பாத்திரமாக வைத்துப்போனான்; வலுசர்ப்பம்போல என்னை விழுங்கி, என் சுவையுள்ள பதார்த்தங்களால் தன் வயிற்றை நிரப்பினான், என்னைத் துரத்திவிட்டான்.

சீயோன் ஜனங்கள் இவ்வாறு கூறுவார்கள், “பாபிலோன் அரசனான நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் கடந்த காலத்தில் எங்களை அழித்தான். கடந்த காலத்தில் நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் எங்களைத் தாக்கினான். கடந்த காலத்தில் அவன் எங்கள் ஜனங்களைக் கொண்டுப் போனான். நாங்கள் காலியான ஜாடியைப் போன்றிருந்தோம். எங்களிடமிருந்த சிறந்தவற்றை அவன் எடுத்தான். அவன் பெரிய ராட்சதனைப்போன்று வயிறு நிறையும்வரை தின்றுக்கொண்டிருந்தான். எங்களிடமுள்ள சிறந்தவற்றை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு எங்களை எறிந்துவிட்டான்.
