Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

இதோ, புரண்டு ஓடுகிற யோர்தானிடத்திலிருந்து சிங்கம் வருவதுபோல் பலவானுடைய தாபரத்திற்கு விரோதமாக வருகிறான்; அவனைச் சடிதியில் அங்கேயிருந்து ஓடிவரச்செய்வேன்; நான் அதற்கு விரோதமாய்க் கட்டளையிட்டு அனுப்பத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவன் யார்? எனக்குச் சமமானவன் யார்? எனக்கு எதிராக நிற்கிறவன் யார்? எனக்கு முன்பாக நிலைநிற்கப்போகிற மேய்ப்பன் யார்?

“யோர்தான் ஆற்றின் கரையிலுள்ள அடர்த்தியான புதர்களில் இருந்து சில வேளைகளில் சிங்கம் வரும். ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் ஆடுகளையும் மாடுகளையும் விட்டிருக்கிற வயல்களில் அச்சிங்கம் போகும். நான் அந்தச் சிங்கத்தைப் போன்றிருக்கிறேன். நான் ஏதோமுக்குப் போவேன். நான் அந்த ஜனங்களைப் பயப்படுத்துவேன். அவர்களை ஓடும்படிச்செய்வேன். அவர்களது இளைஞர்கள் யாரும் என்னைத் தடுக்கமுடியாது. எவரும் என்னைப்போல இரார். எவரும் எனக்குச் சவால் விடமுடியாது. அவர்களில் எந்த மேய்ப்பர்களும் (தலைவர்கள்) எனக்கு எதிரே நிற்கமுடியாது.”
