Genesis 50:5
My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have dug for me in the land of Canaan, there shall you bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray you, and bury my father, and I will come again.

என் தகப்பனார் என்னை நோக்கி: இதோ, நான் மரணமடையப்போகிறேன்; கானான் தேசத்திலே நான் எனக்காக வெட்டிவைத்திருக்கிற கல்லறையிலே என்னை அடக்கம் செய்யவேண்டும் என்று என்னிடத்தில் சொல்லி, உறுதிமொழி வாங்கிக்கொண்டார்; நான் அங்கே போய், என் தகப்பனை அடக்கம்செய்து வருவதற்கு அனுமதிகொடுக்க வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.

‘என் தந்தை மரணத்தை நெருங்கும்போது அவருக்கு நான் ஒரு வாக்குக் கொடுத்தேன். அவரைக் கானான் நாட்டில் ஓரிடத்தில் அடக்கம் செய்வதாக ஒப்புக்கொண்டேன். அதுவே அவர் விரும்பிய குகை. எனவே, நான் போய் அவரை அடக்கம் செய்ய எனக்கு அனுமதி வேண்டும். பின்னர் நான் உங்களிடம் திரும்பி வருவேன்’” என்றான்.
