Genesis 42:21
And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

நம்முடைய சகோதரனுக்கு நாம் செய்த துரோகம் நம்மேல் சுமந்தது; அவன் நம்மைக் கெஞ்சி வேண்டிக்கொண்டபோது, அவனுடைய மனவேதனையை நாம் கண்டும், அவன் சொல்லைக் கேட்காமற்போனோமே; ஆகையால் இந்த ஆபத்து நமக்கு நேரிட்டது என்று ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பார்த்துச் சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

அவர்கள் ஒருவருக்கொருவர், “நாம் நமது இளைய சகோதரனுக்குச் செய்த தீமைக்கே இந்தத் தண்டனை. அவன் துன்பப்படுவதைப் பார்த்தோம். தன்னைக் காப்பாற்றும்படி அவன் எவ்வளவோ கெஞ்சினான். ஆனால் நாம் அவன் சொன்னதைக் கவனிக்க மறுத்துவிட்டோம். இப்போது அதற்கு அனுபவிக்கிறோம்” என்று பேசிக்கொண்டனர்.
