Genesis 21:23
Now therefore swear unto me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto you, you shall do unto me, and to the land wherein you have sojourned.

ஆகையால், நீ எனக்காவது, என் மகனுக்காவது, பேரனுக்காவது வஞ்சனை செய்யாமல், நான் உனக்குச் செய்த தயவின்படியே, நீ எனக்கும், நீ தங்கியிருக்கிற இந்தத் தேசத்திற்கும், தயவு செய்வேன் என்று இங்கே தேவன் பேரில் எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடு என்றான்.

எனவே இப்போது எனக்கு தேவனுக்கு முன்பு ஒரு வாக்குறுதி கொடு. நீ என்னோடும், என் பிள்ளைகளோடும் நியாயமாக நடந்துகொள்வேன் என்றும், நீ என்னோடும், நீ வாழ்கிற இந்தத் தேசத்தோடும் கருணையாய் இருப்பேன் என்றும் வாக்குறுதிகொடு. நான் உன்னோடு கருணையாய் இருப்பதுபோன்று நீ என்னோடு கருணையாய் இருப்பதாக உறுதியளி” என்று கேட்டனர்.
