Nevertheless he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear stroke him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.

ஆனாலும் அவன் விலகிப்போகமாட்டேன் என்றபடியால், அப்னேர் அவனை ஈட்டியின் பின்புற மழுங்கிய முனையால் அவனுடைய வயிற்றிலே குத்தினான்; ஈட்டி மறுபக்கத்தில் வந்தது; அவன் அங்கேயே விழுந்து இறந்தான்; ஆசகேல் விழுந்துகிடக்கிற இடத்திற்கு வந்தவர்கள் எல்லோரும் அங்கேயே நின்றார்கள்.

ஆனால் ஆசகேலோ அப்னேரை விடாமல் துரத்தினான். எனவே அப்னேர் ஈட்டியின் மறுமுனையால் ஆசகேலின் வயிற்றில் குத்தினான். ஈட்டி ஆசகேலின் வயிற்றினுள் புகுந்து முதுகில் வெளி வந்தது. ஆசகேல் அங்கேயே விழுந்து மரித்தான். ஆசகேலின் உடல் நிலத்தில் கிடந்தது. ஓடிவந்த மனிதர்கள் அவனருகே நின்றுவிட்டனர்.
