And, behold, the whole family has risen against yours handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that stroke his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.

வம்சத்தார்கள் எல்லோரும் உம்முடைய அடியாளுக்கு விரோதமாக எழும்பி, தன்னுடைய சகோதரனைக் கொன்று போட்டவனை எங்களிடம் ஒப்புவி; அவன் கொன்ற அவனுடைய சகோதரனுடைய உயிருக்காக நாங்கள் அவனைக் கொன்றுபோடுவோம்; ஒரே வாரிசாக இருந்தாலும் அவனையும் அழித்துப்போடுவோம் என்கிறார்கள். இப்படி என் கணவனின் பெயரும் நீதியும் பூமியின்மேல் வைக்கப்படாதபடி, எனக்கு இன்னும் மீதியாக இருக்கிற கடைசியாக எரிகிற சிறு நெருப்பையும் அணைத்துப்போட மனதாக இருக்கிறார்கள் என்றாள்.

இப்போது எனது குடும்பத்தார் எனக்கு விரோதிகளாயிருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் என்னை நோக்கி, ‘சகோதரனைக் கொன்ற உனது மகனை அழைத்து வா, நாங்கள் அவனைக் கொல்லவேண்டும். ஏனெனில் அவன் தனது சகோதரனைக் கொன்றிருக்கிறான்’ என்றனர். எனது மகன் நெருப்பில் மீந்திருக்கும் கடைசி கரிநெருப்பைப் போன்றவன். அவன் மரித்தால் எங்கள் குடும்ப விளக்கு அணைந்துவிடும். தந்தையின் சொத்தை சுதந்தரிக்கும்படி பிழைத்திருக்கும் ஒரே மகன் அவனே. அவன் மரித்தால் மரித்துப்போன எனது கணவனின் சொத்துக்கள் வேறொருவருக்குச் சொந்தமாகும். அவனது பெயரும் தேசத்தில் இல்லாதபடி அழிந்துப்போகும்” என்றாள்.
