అప్పుడుఆవరణములో ఎవరో యున్నారని రాజు చెప్పెను. అప్పటికి హామాను తాను చేయించిన ఉరికొయ్యమీద మొర్దెకైని ఉరితీయింప సెలవిమ్మని రాజుతో మనవి చేయుటకై రాజనగరుయొక్క ఆవరణము లోనికి వచ్చియుండెను.

మూడవ దినమందు ఎస్తేరు రాజభూషణములు ధరించు కొని, రాజునగరుయొక్క ఆవరణములో రాజు సన్నిధికి వెళ్లి నిలిచెను. రాజనగరు ద్వారమునకు ఎదురుగానున్న రాజావరణములో తన రాజాసనముమీద రాజు కూర్చుని యుండెను.

అంతట హామాను అహష్వేరోషుతో చెప్పినదేమనగా మీ రాజ్య సంస్థా నములన్నిటియందుండు జనులలో ఒక జాతివారు చెదరి యున్నారు; వారి విధులు సకలజనుల విధులకు వేరుగా ఉన్నవి; వారు రాజుయొక్క ఆజ్ఞలను గైకొనువారు కారు; కాబట్టి వారిని ఉండనిచ్చుట రాజునకు ప్రయోజనకరము కాదు.
