Leviticus 17:11
రక్తము దేహమునకు ప్రాణము. మీనిమిత్తము ప్రాయశ్చిత్తము చేయునట్లు బలిపీఠముమీద పోయుటకై దానిని మీకిచ్చితిని. రక్తము దానిలోనున్న ప్రాణమునుబట్టి ప్రాయశ్చిత్తము చేయును.

అప్పుడతడు ఆ కోడెరక్తములో కొంచెము తీసికొని తూర్పుప్రక్కను కరుణాపీఠముమీద తన వ్రేలితో ప్రోక్షించి, కరుణాపీఠము ఎదుట తన వ్రేలితో ఆ రక్తములో కొంచెము ఏడుమారులు ప్రోక్షింపవలెను.
