1 కొన్నిదినములైన తరువాత గోధుమల కోతకాలమున సమ్సోను మేకపిల్ల ఒకటి తీసికొని తన భార్యను చూడ వచ్చి అంతఃపురములోనున్న నా భార్య యొద్దకు నేను పోదుననుకొనగా

2 ఆమె తండ్రి లోపలికి అతని వెళ్ల నియ్యకనిశ్చయముగా నీవు ఆమెను ద్వేషించితివనుకొని నీ స్నేహితునికి ఆమెను ఇచ్చి తిని; ఆమె చెల్లెలు ఆమెకంటె చక్కనిదికాదా? ఆమెకు ప్రతిగా ఈమె నీకుండవచ్చును చిత్తగించుమనెను.

3 అప్పుడు సమ్సోనునేను ఫిలిష్తీయు లకు హానిచేసినయెడల వారి విషయములో నేనిప్పుడు నిర పరాధినైయుందునని వారితో చెప్పి

4 పోయి మూడు వందల నక్కలను పట్టుకొని దివిటీలను తెప్పించి తోక తట్టు తోకను త్రిప్పి రెండేసి తోకలమధ్యను ఒక్కొక్క దివిటీ కట్టి

5 ఆ దివిటీలో అగ్ని మండచేసి ఫిలిష్తీయుల గోధుమ చేలలోనికి వాటిని పోనిచ్చి పనల కుప్పలను పైరును ద్రాక్షతోటలను ఒలీవతోటలను తగులబెట్టెను.

6 ఫిలిష్తీ యులు ఇది ఎవడు చేసినదని చెప్పుకొనుచు, తిమ్నా యుని అల్లుడైన సమ్సోను భార్యను ఆమె తండ్రి తీసికొని అతని స్నేహితుని కిచ్చెను గనుక అతడే చేసియుండెనని చెప్పిరి. కాబట్టి ఫిలిష్తీయులు ఆమెను ఆమె తండ్రిని అగ్నితో కాల్చిరి.

7 అప్పుడు సమ్సోనుమీరు ఈలాగున చేసినయెడల నేను మీమీద పగతీర్చుకొనిన తరువాతనే చాలించెదనని చెప్పి

8 తొడలతో తుంట్లను విరుగగొట్టి వారిని బహుగా హతము చేసెను. అటుపిమ్మట వెళ్లి ఏతాము బండసందులో నివసించెను.

9 అప్పుడు ఫిలిష్తీయులు బయలుదేరి యూదాదేశములో దిగి చెదరి, లేహీలో దోపిడికొరకై దండు కూర్చిరి.

10 యూదావారుమీరేల మా మీదికి వచ్చితిరని అడుగగా ఫిలిష్తీయులుసమ్సోను మాకు చేసినట్లు మేము అతనికి చేయవలెనని అతని కట్టుటకే వచ్చితిమనిరి.

11 అందుకు యూదా జనులలో మూడువేలమంది ఏతాములోని బండ యొద్దకు పోయి సమ్సోనును చూచిఫిలిష్తీయులు మనకు ఏలికలని నీకు తెలియదా? నీవు మాకేమి చేసితివని చెప్పగా అతడువారు నాకెట్లు చేసిరో అట్లే నేను వారికి చేసితి ననెను.

12 అందుకు వారుమేము ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతికి అప్ప గించుటకు నిన్ను కట్టవచ్చితిమని అతనితో అనగా సమ్సోనుమీరు నామీద పడకుండునట్లు నాతో ప్రమాణము చేయుడనెను.

13 అందుకు వారుఆలాగు కాదు, నిశ్చయముగా మేము నిన్ను చంపముగాని నిన్ను గట్టిగా కట్టి వారిచేతికి మేము అప్పగించెదమని చెప్పి రెండు క్రొత్త తాళ్లచేత అతని కట్టి ఆ బండయొద్దనుండి అతని తీసికొనివచ్చిరి.

14 అతడు లేహీకి వచ్చువరకు ఫిలిష్తీయులు అతనిని ఎదుర్కొని కేకలు వేయగా, యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతనిమీదికి బలముగా వచ్చినందున అతనిచేతులకు కట్టబడిన తాళ్లు అగ్ని చేత కాల్చబడిన జనుపనారవలె నాయెను; సంకెళ్లును అతనిచేతులమీదనుండి విడిపోయెను.

15 అతడు గాడిదయొక్క పచ్చి దవడ యెముకను కనుగొని చెయ్యి చాచి పట్టుకొని దానిచేత వెయ్యిమంది మనుష్యులను చంపెను.

16 అప్పుడు సమ్సోను గాడిద దవడ యెముకతో ఒక కుప్పను రెండు కుప్పలను నేను చంపియున్నాను గాడిద దవడ యెముకతో వెయ్యిమంది నరులను చంపియున్నాను అనెను.

17 అతడు చెప్పుట చాలించిన తరువాత ఆ దవడ యెము కను చేతినుండి పారవేసి ఆ చోటికి రామత్లెహీ అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

18 అప్పుడతడు మిక్కిలి దప్పిగొనినందున యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టినీవు నీ సేవకుని చేతివలన ఈ గొప్ప రక్షణను దయచేసిన తరువాత నేనిప్పుడు దప్పి చేతను చచ్చి, సున్నతి పొందనివారి చేతిలోనికి పడవలెనా? అని వేడుకొనగా

19 ​దేవుడు లేహీలోనున్న ఒక గోతిని చీల్చెను, దానినుండి నీళ్లు బయలుదేరెను. అతడు త్రాగిన తరువాత ప్రాణము తెప్పరిల్లి బ్రదికెను. కాబట్టి దానిపేరు నేటివరకు ఏన్హక్కోరె అనబడెను; అది లేహీలో నున్నది.

20 ​అతడు ఫిలిష్తీయుల దినములలో ఇరువదియేండ్లు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయాధిపతియైయుండెను.

1 But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.

2 And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.

3 And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.

4 And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.

5 And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.

6 Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.

7 And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.

8 And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.

9 Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.

10 And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.

11 Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.

12 And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.

13 And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.

14 And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

15 And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.

16 And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.

17 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-lehi.

18 And he was sore athirst, and called on the Lord, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?

19 But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof En-hakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.

20 And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.

விசுவாசிகளான யூதரல்லாதவர்கள் இப்படிப்பட்டவைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல், விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைத்த அசுத்தமானவைகளை சாப்பிடாமலும், கழுத்தை நசுக்கி கொல்லப்பட்ட மிருகம் மற்றும் இரத்தம் ஆகியவற்றை சாப்பிடாமலும், தகாத உறவு கொள்ளாமலும் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்று நாங்கள் தீர்மானம்பண்ணி, அவர்களுக்குக் கடிதம் எழுதி அனுப்பினோம் என்றார்கள்.

“யூதரல்லாத விசுவாசிகளுக்கு நாங்கள் ஏற்கெனவே ஒரு கடிதம் அனுப்பியுள்ளோம். அக்கடிதம், ‘விக்கிரகங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட உணவை உண்ணாதீர்கள். இரத்தத்தை ருசிக்காதீர்கள், நெரித்துக்கொல்லப்பட்ட மிருகங்களை உண்ணாதீர்கள், பாலியல் தொடர்பான பாவங்களைச் செய்யாதீர்கள்’ என்று கூறிற்று” என்றார்கள்.
