Joshua 10

1 యెహోషువ హాయిని పట్టుకొనిన సంగతియు; అతడు యెరికోను దాని రాజును నిర్మూలముచేసినట్టు హాయిని దాని రాజును నిర్మూలముచేసిన సంగతియు, గిబియోను నివాసులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో సంధిచేసికొని వారితో కలిసికొనిన సంగతియు యెరూషలేము రాజైన అదోనీసెదకు వినినప్పుడు అతడును అతని జనులును మిగుల భయపడిరి.

2 ఏలయనగా గిబియోను గొప్ప పట్టణమై రాజధానులలో ఎంచబడినది; అది హాయికంటె గొప్పది, అక్కడి జనులందరు శూరులు. అంతట యెరూషలేము రాజైన అదోనీసెదెకుగిబియోనీయులు యెహోషువతోను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతోను సంధిచేసియున్నారు. మీరు నాయొద్దకు వచ్చి నాకు సహాయము చేసినయెడల మనము వారి పట్టణమును నాశనము చేయుదమని

3 ​హెబ్రోను రాజైన హోహామునొద్దకును, యర్మూతు రాజైన పిరాము నొద్దకును,

4 ​లాకీషురాజైన యాఫీయ యొద్దకును ఎగ్లోను రాజైన దెబీరునొద్దకును వర్తమానము పంపెను.

5 కాబట్టి అమోరీయుల అయిదుగురురాజులను, అనగా యెరూష లేము రాజును హెబ్రోను రాజును యర్మూతు రాజును లాకీషు రాజును ఎగ్లోను రాజును కూడుకొని, తామును తమ సేనలన్నియు బయలుదేరి, గిబియోను ముందర దిగి, గిబియోనీయులతో యుద్ధముచేసిరి.

6 గిబియోనీయులుమన్యములలో నివసించు అమోరీయుల రాజులందరు కూడి మా మీదికిదండెత్తి వచ్చియున్నారు గనుక, నీ దాసులను చెయ్యి విడువక త్వరగా మాయొద్దకు వచ్చి మాకు సహా యముచేసి మమ్మును రక్షించుమని గిల్గాలులో దిగియున్న పాళెములో యెహోషువకు వర్తమానము పంపగా

7 ​యెహో షువయును అతనియొద్దనున్న యోధులందరును పరాక్రమ ముగల శూరులందరును గిల్గాలునుండి బయలుదేరిరి.

8 అప్పుడు యెహోవావారికి భయపడకుము, నీ చేతికి వారిని అప్పగించియున్నాను, వారిలో ఎవడును నీ యెదుట నిలువడని యెహోషువతో సెలవియ్యగా

9 యెహోషువ గిల్గాలునుండి ఆ రాత్రి అంతయు నడచి వారిమీద హఠా త్తుగాపడెను.

10 అప్పుడు యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల యెదుట వారిని కలవరపరచగా యెహోషువ గిబియోను నెదుట మహా ఘోరముగా వారిని హతముచేసెను. బేత్‌ హోరోనుకు పైకి పోవుమార్గమున అజేకావరకును మక్కేదావరకును యోధులు వారిని తరిమి హతము చేయుచు వచ్చిరి.

11 మరియు వారు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల యెదుటనుండి బేత్‌ హోరోనుకు దిగిపోవుత్రోవను పారి పోవుచుండగా, వారు అజేకాకు వచ్చువరకు యెహోవా ఆకాశమునుండి గొప్ప వడగండ్లను వారిమీద పడవేసెను గనుక వారు దానిచేత చనిపోయిరి. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు కత్తివాత చంపిన వారికంటె ఆ వడగండ్లచేత చచ్చినవారు ఎక్కువ మందియయిరి.

12 యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల యెదుట అమోరీయు లను అప్పగించిన దినమున, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు వినుచుండగా యెహోషువ యెహోవాకు ప్రార్థన చేసెను సూర్యుడా, నీవు గిబియోనులో నిలువుము. చంద్రుడా, నీవు అయ్యాలోను లోయలో నిలువుము. జనులు తమ శత్రువులమీద పగతీర్చుకొనువరకు సూర్యుడు నిలిచెను చంద్రుడు ఆగెను. అను మాట యాషారు గ్రంథములో వ్రాయబడియున్నది గదా.

13 సూర్యుడు ఆకాశమధ్యమున నిలిచి యించు మించు ఒక నా డెల్ల అస్తమింప త్వరపడలేదు.

14 యెహోవా ఒక నరుని మనవి వినిన ఆ దినమువంటి దినము దానికి ముందేగాని దానికి తరువాతనేగాని యుండలేదు; నాడు యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల పక్షముగా యుద్ధము చేసెను.

15 అప్పుడు యెహోషువయు అతనితోకూడ ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును గిల్గాలులోనున్న పాళెములోనికి తిరిగి వచ్చిరి.

16 ఆ రాజులయిదుగురు పారిపోయి మక్కేదాయందలి గుహలో దాగియుండిరి.

17 మక్కేదాయందలి గుహలో దాగియున్న ఆ రాజులయిదుగురు దొరికిరని యెహోషు వకు తెలుపబడినప్పుడు

18 ​యెహోషువఆ గుహ ద్వార మున కడ్డముగా గొప్ప రాళ్లను దొర్లించి వారిని కాచుటకు మనుష్యులను ఉంచుడి.

19 మీ దేవు డైన యెహోవా మీ శత్రువులను మీ చేతికి అప్పగించియున్నాడు గనుక వారిని తమ పట్టణములలోనికి మరల వెళ్లనీయకుండ మీరు నిలువక వారిని తరిమి వారి వెనుకటివారిని కొట్టివేయుడనెను.

20 వారు బొత్తిగా నశించువరకు యెహోషువయు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులును బహు జనసంహారముచేయుట కడతేర్చిన తరువాత వారిలో మిగిలియున్నవారు ప్రాకారముగల పట్టణములలో చొచ్చిరి.

21 ​జనులందరు మక్కేదాయందలి పాళెములోనున్న యెహోషువ యొద్దకు సురక్షితముగా తిరిగి వచ్చిరి. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు విరోధముగా ఒక మాటయైన ఆడుటకు ఎవనికిని గుండె చాలకపోయెను.

22 యెహోషువఆ గుహకు అడ్డము తీసివేసి గుహలోనుండి ఆ అయిదుగురు రాజులను నాయొద్దకు తీసికొనిరండని చెప్పగా

23 వారు ఆలాగు చేసి, యెరూషలేము రాజును హెబ్రోను రాజును యర్మూతు రాజును లాకీషు రాజును ఎగ్లోను రాజును ఆ రాజుల నయిదుగురిని ఆ గుహలోనుండి అతనియొద్దకు తీసికొని వచ్చిరి.

24 ​వారు ఆ రాజు లను వెలుపలికి రప్పించి యెహోషువ యొద్దకు తీసికొని వచ్చినప్పుడు యెహోషువ ఇశ్రాయేలీయులనందరిని పిలి పించి, తనతో యుద్ధమునకు వెళ్లివచ్చిన యోధుల అధిపతు లతోమీరు దగ్గరకు రండి; ఈ రాజుల మెడలమీద మీ పాదముల నుంచుడని చెప్పగా వారు దగ్గరకు వచ్చి వారి మెడలమీద తమ పాదములనుంచిరి.

25 అప్పుడు యెహోషువ వారితోమీరు భయపడకుడి, జడియకుడి, దృఢత్వము వహించి ధైర్యముగానుండుడి; మీరు ఎవరితో యుద్ధము చేయుదురో ఆ శత్రువులకందరికి యెహోవా వీరికి చేసినట్టు చేయుననెను.

26 తరువాత యెహోషువ వారిని కొట్టి చంపి అయిదు చెట్లమీద వారిని ఉరిదీసెను; వారి శవములు సాయంకాలమువరకు ఆ చెట్లమీద వ్రేలాడు చుండెను.

27 ప్రొద్దు గ్రుంకు సమయమున యెహోషువ సెలవియ్యగా జనులు చెట్లమీదనుండి వారిని దించి, వారు దాగిన గుహలోనే ఆ శవములను పడవేసి ఆ గుహద్వార మున గొప్ప రాళ్లను వేసిరి. ఆ రాళ్లు నేటివరకున్నవి.

28 ఆ దినమున యెహోషువ మక్కేదాను పట్టుకొని దానిని దాని రాజును కత్తివాతను హతముచేసెను. అతడు వారిని దానిలోనున్న వారినందరిని నిర్మూలము చేసెను; యెరికో రాజునకు చేసినట్లు మక్కేదా రాజునకు చేసెను.

29 యెహోషువయు అతనితో కూడ ఇశ్రాయేలీయు లందరును మక్కేదానుండి లిబ్నాకు వచ్చి లిబ్నా వారితో యుద్ధముచేసిరి.

30 ​యెహోవా దానిని దాని రాజును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు అప్పగింపగా వారు నిశ్శేషముగా దానిని దానిలోనున్న వారినందరిని కత్తివాతను హతము చేసిరి. అతడు యెరికో రాజునకు చేసినట్లు దాని రాజు నకును చేసెను.

31 అంతట యెహోషువయు అతనితో కూడ ఇశ్రా యేలీయులందరును లిబ్నానుండి లాకీషుకు వచ్చి దాని దగ్గర దిగి లాకీషువారితో యుద్ధముచేయగా

32 ​యెహోవా లాకీషును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులచేతికి అప్పగించెను. వారు రెండవ దినమున దానిని పట్టుకొని తాము లిబ్నాకు చేసి నట్లే దానిని దానిలోనున్న వారినందరిని కత్తివాత హతము చేసిరి.

33 ​లాకీషుకు సహాయము చేయుటకు గెజెరు రాజైన హోరాము రాగా యెహోషువ నిశ్శేషముగా అతనిని అతని జనులను హతముచేసెను.

34 అప్పుడు యెహోషువయు అతనితో కూడ ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును లాకీషునుండి ఎగ్లోనునకును వచ్చి దానియెదుట దిగి దాని నివాసులతో యుద్ధముచేసి

35 ఆ దినమున దానిని పట్టుకొని కత్తివాతను వారిని హతము చేసిరి. అతడు లాకీషుకు చేసినట్లే దానిలో నున్నవారి నందరిని ఆ దినము నిర్మూలముచేసెను.

36 అప్పుడు యెహోషువయు అతనితో కూడ ఇశ్రా యేలీయులందరును ఎగ్లోనునుండి హెబ్రోనుమీదికి పోయి దాని జనులతో యుద్ధముచేసి

37 ​దానిని పట్టుకొని దానిని దాని రాజును దాని సమస్త పురములను దానిలోనున్న వారినందరిని కత్తివాతను హతముచేసిరి. అతడు ఎగ్లో నుకు చేసినట్లే దానిని దానిలోనున్న వారినందరిని నిర్మూ లము చేసెను.

38 ​అప్పుడు యెహోషువయు అతనితో కూడ ఇశ్రా యేలీయులందరు దెబీరువైపు తిరిగి దాని జనులతో యుద్ధముచేసి

39 దానిని దాని రాజును దాని సమస్త పుర ములను పట్టుకొని కత్తివాతను హతముచేసి దానిలోనున్న వారినందరిని నిర్మూలముచేసిరి. అతడు హెబ్రోనుకు చేసినట్లు, లిబ్నాకును దాని రాజునకును చేసినట్లు, అతడు దెబీరుకును దాని రాజునకును చేసెను.

40 అప్పుడు యెహోషువ మన్యప్రదేశమును దక్షిణ ప్రదే శమును షెఫేలాప్రదేశమును చరియలప్రదేశమును వాటి రాజులనందరిని జయించెను. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞాపించినట్లు అతడు శేషమేమియు లేకుండ ఊపిరిగల సమస్తమును నిర్మూలము చేసెను.

41 కాదేషు బర్నేయ మొదలుకొని గాజావరకు గిబియోనువరకు గోషేను దేశమంతటిని యెహోషువ జయించెను.

42 ఇశ్రా యేలు దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల పక్షముగా యుద్ధము చేయుచుండెను గనుక ఆ సమస్త రాజుల నంద రిని వారి దేశములను యెహోషువ ఒక దెబ్బతోనే పట్టు కొనెను.

43 తరువాత యెహోషువయు అతనితోకూడ ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును గిల్గాలులోని పాళెమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చిరి.

1 Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

2 That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

3 Wherefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

6 And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

7 So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

8 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

9 Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.

10 And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth-horon, that the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

12 Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.

15 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

16 But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.

17 And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.

18 And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:

19 And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the Lord your God hath delivered them into your hand.

20 And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.

21 And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.

22 Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.

23 And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.

25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

26 And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.

27 And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave’s mouth, which remain until this very day.

28 And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.

29 Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:

30 And the Lord delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho.

31 And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:

32 And the Lord delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.

33 Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.

34 And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it:

35 And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.

36 And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:

37 And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.

38 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:

39 And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.

40 So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel commanded.

41 And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.

42 And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.

43 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.

16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
