Isaiah 36
1 హిజ్కియా రాజుయొక్క పదునాలుగవ సంవత్సర మున అష్షూరురాజైన సన్హెరీబు యూదా దేశములోని ప్రాకారముగల పట్టణములన్నిటిమీదికి వచ్చి వాటిని పట్టుకొనెను.
2 అంతట అష్షూరు రాజు రబ్షాకేను లాకీషు పట్టణమునుండి యెరూషలేమునందున్న రాజైనహిజ్కియా మీదికి బహు గొప్ప సేనతో పంపెను. వారు చాకి రేవు మార్గమందున్న మెరకకొలను కాలువయొద్ద ప్రవే శింపగా
3 హిల్కీయా కూమారుడును రాజు గృహనిర్వాహ కుడును నైన ఎల్యాకీమును శాస్త్రియగు షెబ్నాయును, రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులమీదనున్న ఆసాపు కుమారుడగు యోవాహును వారియొద్దకు పోయిరి.
4 అప్పుడు రబ్షాకే వారితో ఇట్లనెనుఈ మాట హిజ్కియాతో తెలియ జెప్పుడిమహారాజైన అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చినదేమనగా నీవీలాగు చెప్పవలెను. నీవు నమ్ముకొను ఈ ఆశ్ర యాస్పదుడు ఏపాటి ప్రయోజనకారి?
5 యుద్ధవిషయ ములో నీ యోచనయు నీ బలమును వట్టిమాటలే. ఎవని నమ్ముకొని నామీద తిరుగుబాటు చేయుచున్నావు?
6 నలిగిన రెల్లువంటి యీ ఐగుప్తును నీవు నమ్ముకొనుచున్నావు గదా; ఒకడు దానిమీద ఆనుకొన్నయెడల అది వాని చేతికి గుచ్చుకొని దూసిపోవును. ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరో అతని నమ్ముకొనువారికందరికి అట్టివాడే.
7 మా దేవుడైన యెహోవాను మేము నమ్ముకొనుచున్నామని మీరు నాతో చెప్పెదరేమో సరే; యెరూషలేమందున్న యీ బలిపీఠము నొద్ద మాత్రమే మీరు నమస్కారము చేయవలెనని యూదావారికిని యెరూషలేమువారికిని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి, హిజ్కియా యెవని ఉన్నత స్థలములను బలిపీఠములను పడగొట్టెనో ఆయనేగదా యెహోవా.
8 కావున చిత్త గించి అష్షూరు రాజైన నా యేలినవానితో పందెము వేయుము; రెండు వేల గుఱ్ఱములమీద రౌతులను ఎక్కించు టకు నీకు శక్తి యున్నయెడల నేను వాటిని నీకిచ్చెదను.
9 లేనియెడల నా యజమానుని సేవకులలో అత్యల్పుడైన అధిపతియగు ఒకని నీవేలాగు ఎదిరింతువు? రథములను రౌతులను పంపునని ఐగుప్తురాజును నీవు ఆశ్రయించు కొంటివే.
10 యెహోవా సెలవు నొందకయే యీ దేశమును పాడుచేయుటకు నేను వచ్చితినా? లేదుఆ దేశముమీదికి పోయి దాని పాడుచేయుమని యెహోవా నాకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను అని చెప్పెను.
11 ఎల్యాకీము షెబ్నా యోవాహు అను వారుచిత్తగించుము నీ దాసులమైన మాకు సిరియా భాష తెలియును గనుక దానితో మాట లాడుము, ప్రాకారముమీదనున్న ప్రజల వినికిడిలో యూదుల భాషతో మాటలాడకుమని రబ్షాకేతో అనగా
12 రబ్షాకేఈ మాటలు చెప్పుటకై నా యజ మానుడు నీ యజమానునియొద్దకును నీయొద్దకును నన్ను పంపెనా? తమ మలమును తినునట్లును తమ మూత్రమును త్రాగునట్లును మీతోకూడ ప్రాకారముమీద ఉన్న వారియొద్దకును నన్ను పంపెను గదా అని చెప్పి
13 గొప్ప శబ్దముతో యూదాభాషతో ఇట్లనెనుమహారాజైన అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చిన మాటలు వినుడి. రాజు సెల విచ్చునదేమనగా
14 హిజ్కియాచేత మోసపోకుడి; మిమ్మును విడిపింప శక్తి వానికి చాలదు.
15 యెహోవాను బట్టి మిమ్మును నమి్మంచియెహోవా మనలను విడిపించును; ఈ పట్టణము అష్షూరు రాజు చేతిలో చిక్కక పోవునని హిజ్కియా చెప్పుచున్నాడే.
16 హిజ్కియా చెప్పిన మాట మీరంగీకరింపవలదు; అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చున దేమనగా నాతో సంధి చేసికొని నాయొద్దకు మీరు బయటికి వచ్చినయెడల మీలో ప్రతి మనిషి తన ద్రాక్ష చెట్టు ఫలమును తన అంజూరపు చెట్టు ఫలమును తినుచు తన బావి నీళ్లు త్రాగుచు నుండును.
17 అటుపిమ్మట మీరు చావక బ్రదుకునట్లుగా నేను వచ్చి మీ దేశమువంటి దేశమునకు, అనగా గోధుమలును ద్రాక్షారసమును గల దేశమునకును ఆహారమును ద్రాక్షచెట్లునుగల దేశమునకును మిమ్మును తీసికొని పోదును; యెహోవా మిమ్మును విడిపించునని చెప్పి హిజ్కియా మిమ్మును మోసపుచ్చు చున్నాడు.
18 ఆయా జనముల దేవతలలో ఏదైనను తన దేశమును అష్షూరు రాజు చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించెనా? హమాతు దేవతలేమాయెను?
19 అర్పాదు దేవతలేమాయెను? సెపర్వయీము దేవతలేమాయెను? షోమ్రోను దేశపు దేవత నా చేతిలోనుండి షోమ్రోనును విడిపించెనా?
20 యెహోవా నా చేతిలో నుండి యెరూషలేమును విడిపించు ననుటకు ఈ దేశముల దేవతలలో ఏదైనను తన దేశమును నా చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించినది కలదా? అని చెప్పెను.
21 అయితే అతనికి ప్రత్యుత్తర మియ్యవద్దని రాజు సెలవిచ్చి యుండుటచేత వారెంతమాత్రమును ప్రత్యు త్తరమియ్యక ఊరకొనిరి.
22 గృహనిర్వాహకుడును హిల్కీయా కుమా రుడునైన ఎల్యాకీమును, శాస్త్రియగు షెబ్నాయును, రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులమీదనున్న ఆసాపు కుమారుడగు యోవాహును బట్టలు చింపుకొని హిజ్కియాయొద్దకు వచ్చి రబ్షాకే పలికిన మాటలన్నియు తెలియజెప్పిరి.
1 Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.
2 And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field.
3 Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah’s son, which was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, Asaph’s son, the recorder.
4 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
5 I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
6 Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.
7 But if thou say to me, We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
8 Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
9 How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
10 And am I now come up without the Lord against this land to destroy it? the Lord said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
11 Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
12 But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
13 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.
15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
17 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The Lord will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arphad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
20 Who are they among all the gods of these lands, that have delivered their land out of my hand, that the Lord should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
21 But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
22 Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4 For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
9 And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
11 Therefore the Lord shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;
12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the Lord of hosts.
14 Therefore the Lord will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18 For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
19 Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
