1 Kings 13
1 అంతట దైవజనుడైన యొకడు యెహోవాచేత సెలవు నొంది యూదాదేశమునుండి బేతేలునకు వచ్చెను. ధూపము వేయుటకై యరొబాము ఆ బలిపీఠమునొద్ద నిలిచి యుండగా
2 ఆ దైవజనుడు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞచేత బలిపీఠమునకు ఈ మాట ప్రక టనచేసెనుబలిపీఠమా బలి పీఠమా, యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగాదావీదు సంత తిలో యోషీయా అను నొక శిశువు పుట్టును; నీమీద ధూపము వేసిన ఉన్నత స్థలముయొక్క యాజకులను అతడు నీమీద అర్పించును; అతడు మనుష్య శల్యములను నీమీద దహనము చేయును.
3 ఈ బలిపీఠము బద్దలై పోయి దానిమీదనున్న బుగ్గి ఒలికి పోవుటయే యెహోవా ఇచ్చు సూచన అని చెప్పి ఆ దినమున ఆ ప్రవక్త సూచన యొకటి యిచ్చెను.
4 బేతేలునందున్న బలి పీఠమునుగూర్చి ఆ దైవజనుడు ప్రకటించిన మాట రాజైన యరొబాము విని, బలిపీఠముమీదనుండి తన చెయ్యి చాపి, వానిని పట్టు కొనుమని చెప్పగా అతడు చాపిన చెయ్యి యెండి పోయెను; దానిని వెనుకకు తీసికొనుటకు అతనికి శక్తిలేక పోయెను.
5 మరియు యెహోవా సెలవు ప్రకారము దైవజనుడిచ్చిన సూచనచొప్పున బలిపీఠము బద్దలుకాగా బుగ్గి దానిమీదనుండి ఒలికిపోయెను.
6 అప్పుడు రాజునా చెయ్యి మునుపటివలె బాగగునట్లు నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా సముఖమందు నాకొరకు వేడుకొనుమని ఆ దైవజనుని బతిమాలుకొనగా, దైవజనుడు యెహోవాను బతిమాలుకొనెను గనుక రాజు చెయ్యి మరల బాగై మును పటివలె ఆయెను.
7 అప్పుడు రాజునీవు నా యింటికి వచ్చి అలసట తీర్చుకొనుము, నీకు బహుమతి ఇచ్చెదనని ఆ దైవజనునితో చెప్పగా
8 దైవజనుడు రాజుతో ఇట్లనెనునీ యింటిలో సగము నీవు నాకిచ్చినను నీతోకూడ నేను లోపలికి రాను; ఈ స్థలమందు నేను అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనను;
9 అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొన వద్దనియు, నీవు వచ్చిన మార్గమున తిరిగి పోవద్దనియు యెహోవా వాక్కుచేత నాకు సెలవాయెనని రాజుతో అనెను.
10 అంతట అతడు తాను బేతేలునకు వచ్చిన మార్గమున వెళ్లక మరియొక మార్గమున తిరిగిపోయెను.
11 బేతేలులో ప్రవక్తయగు ఒక ముసలివాడు కాపుర ముండెను. ఇతని కుమారులలో ఒకడు వచ్చి బేతేలులో దైవజనుడు ఆ దినమున చేసిన క్రియలన్నిటిని, అతడు రాజుతో పలికిన మాటలన్నిటిని తమ తండ్రితో తెలియ జెప్పగా
12 వారి తండ్రి అతడు ఏ మార్గమున వెళ్లిపోయె నని వారినడిగెను; అంతట అతని కుమారులు యూదాదేశ ములోనుండి వచ్చిన దైవజనుడు ఏ మార్గమున వెళ్లిపోయినది తెలిపిరి.
13 పిమ్మట అతడు తన కుమారులను పిలిచినాకొరకు గాడిదకు గంతకట్టుడని చెప్పగా వారు అతని కొరకు గాడిదకు గంతకట్టిరి. అతడు దానిమీద ఎక్కి దైవజనుని కనుగొనవలెనని పోయి
14 మస్తకివృక్షము క్రింద అతడు కూర్చుండగా చూచియూదాదేశములోనుండి వచ్చిన దైవజనుడవు నీవేనా? అని అడుగగా అతడునేనే అనెను.
15 అప్పుడు అతడునా యింటికి వచ్చి భోజనము చేయుమనగా
16 అతడునేను నీతోకూడ మరలి రాజాలను, నీ యింట ప్రవేశింపను, మరియు నీతో కలిసి ఈ స్థలమందు అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనను
17 నీవు అచ్చట అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనవద్దనియు, నీవు వచ్చిన మార్గమున పోవుటకు తిరుగవద్దనియు యెహోవా వాక్కుచేత నాకు సెలవాయెనని చెప్పెను.
18 అందుకతడునేనును నీవంటి ప్రవక్తనే; మరియు దేవదూత యొకడుయెహోవాచేత సెలవుపొంది అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనుటకై అతని నీ యింటికి తోడుకొని రమ్మని నాతో చెప్పెనని అతనితో అబద్ధమాడగా
19 అతడు తిరిగి అతనితోకూడ మరలి పోయి అతని యింట అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనెను.
20 వారు భోజనము చేయుచుండగా అతనిని వెనుకకు తోడుకొని వచ్చిన ఆ ప్రవక్తకు యెహోవా వాక్కు ప్రత్యక్ష మాయెను.
21 అంతట అతడు యూదాదేశములోనుండి వచ్చిన దైవజనుని పిలిచియెహోవా ఈలాగున ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చుచున్నాడునీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా నీకు ఆజ్ఞా పించినదానిని గైకొనక
22 ఆయన సెలవిచ్చిన నోటి మాట మీద తిరుగబడి నీవు వెనుకకు వచ్చి, నీవు అచ్చట అన్న పానములు పుచ్చుకొనవలదని ఆయన సెలవిచ్చిన స్థలమున భోజనము చేసియున్నావు గనుక, నీ కళేబరము నీ పితరుల సమాధిలోనికి రాకపోవునని యెలుగెత్తి చెప్పెను.
23 అంతట వారు అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనిన తరువాత అచ్చటి ప్రవక్త తాను వెనుకకు తోడుకొని వచ్చిన ఆ ప్రవక్తకు గాడిదమీద గంత కట్టించెను.
24 అతడు బయలుదేరి మార్గమున పోవుచుండగా ఒక సింహము అతనికి ఎదురుపడి అతని చంపెను. అతని కళేబరము మార్గమందు పడియుండగా గాడిద దాని దగ్గర నిలిచి యుండెను, సింహమును శవముదగ్గర నిలిచి యుండెను.
25 కొందరు మనుష్యులు ఆ చోటికి వచ్చి శవము మార్గమందు పడియుండు టయు, సింహము శవముదగ్గర నిలిచియుండుటయు చూచి, ఆ ముసలిప్రవక్త కాపురమున్న పట్టణమునకు వచ్చి ఆ వర్తమానము తెలియజేసిరి.
26 మార్గములోనుండి అతని తోడు కొని వచ్చిన ఆ ప్రవక్త ఆ వర్తమానము వినినప్పుడుయెహోవా మాటను ఆలకింపక తిరుగబడిన దైవజనుడు ఇతడే; యెహోవా సింహమునకు అతని అప్పగించి యున్నాడు; యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చిన ప్రకారము అది అతని చీల్చి చంపెను అని పలికి
27 తన కుమారులను పిలిచిగాడిదకు నాకొరకు గంత కట్టుడని చెప్పెను. వారు అతనికొరకు గంత కట్టినప్పుడు
28 అతడు పోయి అతని శవము మార్గమందు పడి యుండుటయు, గాడిదయు సింహమును శవముదగ్గర నిలిచి యుండుటయు, సింహము గాడిదను చీల్చివేయక శవమును తినక యుండుటయు చూచి
29 దైవజనుని శవము ఎత్తి గాడిదమీద వేసికొని తిరిగి వచ్చెను. ఈ ప్రకారము ఆ ముసలి ప్రవక్త అంగలార్చుటకును సమాధిలో శవమును పెట్టుటకును పట్టణమునకు వచ్చెను.
30 అతడు తన సమాధిలో ఆ శవమును పెట్టగా జనులుకటకటా నా సహోదరుడా అని యేడ్చిరి.
31 మరియు ఇతడు సమాధిలో శవమును పెట్టినేను మరణ మైనప్పుడు దైవజనుడైన యితడు పెట్టబడిన సమాధిలో నన్ను పాతి పెట్టుడి; నా శల్యములను అతని శల్యముదగ్గర ఉంచుడి,
32 యెహోవా మాటనుబట్టి బేతేలులోనున్న బలిపీఠమునకు విరోధముగాను, షోమ్రోను పట్టణములో నున్న ఉన్నత స్థలములలోని మందిరములన్నిటికి విరోధము గాను, అతడు ప్రకటించినది అవశ్య ముగా సంభవించునని తన కుమారులతో చెప్పెను.
33 ఈ సంగతియైన తరువాత యరొబాము తన దుర్మార్గ మును విడిచిపెట్టక, సామాన్యజనులలో కొందరిని ఉన్నత స్థలములకు యాజకులుగా నియమించెను. తనకిష్టులైన వారిని యాజకులుగా ప్రతిష్ఠించి వారిని ఉన్నత స్థలములకు యాజకులుగా నియమించెను.
34 యరొబాముసంతతివారిని నిర్మూలము చేసి భూమిమీద ఉండకుండ నశింపజేయునట్లుగా ఇది వారికి పాపకారణమాయెను.
1 And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lord unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.
2 And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee.
3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the Lord hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
4 And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Beth-el, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.
5 The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.
6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.
8 And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:
9 For so was it charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.
10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.
11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in Beth-el; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.
12 And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.
13 And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon,
14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.
15 Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.
16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:
17 For it was said to me by the word of the Lord, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.
18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.
19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.
20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the Lord came unto the prophet that brought him back:
21 And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
22 But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
23 And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back.
24 And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.
25 And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake unto him.
27 And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him.
28 And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the carcase, nor torn the ass.
29 And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.
30 And he laid his carcase in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother!
31 And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:
32 For the saying which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.
33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
34 And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.
1 These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.
2 Of the sons of Phinehas; Gershom: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Hattush.
3 Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males an hundred and fifty.
4 Of the sons of Pahath-moab; Elihoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males.
5 Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.
6 Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.
7 And of the sons of Elam; Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males.
8 And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him fourscore males.
9 Of the sons of Joab; Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.
10 And of the sons of Shelomith; the son of Josiphiah, and with him an hundred and threescore males.
11 And of the sons of Bebai; Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight males.
12 And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him an hundred and ten males.
13 And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.
14 Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.
15 And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.
16 Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.
17 And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.
18 And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;
19 And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;
20 Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.
21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
22 For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.
23 So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
24 Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,
25 And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellers, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:
26 I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;
27 Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.
28 And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the Lord; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the Lord God of your fathers.
29 Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the Lord.
30 So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.
31 Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
32 And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.
33 Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;
34 By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.
35 Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the Lord.
36 And they delivered the king’s commissions unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
