Genesis 37:3
ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਿਰਧ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਖਾਸ ਕੋਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਹ ਕੋਟ ਲੰਮਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਸੀ।
Genesis 37:32
ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਕੋਟ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੋਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਕੋਟ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕੀ ਇਹ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦਾ ਕੋਟ ਹੈ?”

ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਰੰਗੀਨ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਫ਼ਾੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਪਿੱਟਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈ।
