Matthew 27:15
ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਦੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਨਾਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਇਹ ਰਿਵਾਜ਼ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਪਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਚਾਹੁਣ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਕੈਦ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਉਸ ਕੈਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।

ਤਾਂ ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲੀਬ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲੀਬ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਏ।
ਰਸੂਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਤੱਬ 24:27
ਪਰ ਦੋ ਸਾਲ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੁਰਕਿਯੁਸ ਫ਼ੇਸਤੁਸ ਫ਼ੇਲਿਕੁਸ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਹਾਕਮ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਫ਼ੇਲਿਕੁਸ ਹਾਕਮ ਨਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਫ਼ੇਲਿਕੁਸ ਕੁਝ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰੇ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਪਰ ਫ਼ੇਸਤੁਸ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਾਂ?”
