ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਹੋ ਕੁਝ ਦੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ: ‘ਬਹੁਤ ਸਮਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖੇ ਤੇਰਹ, ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਮੇਤ ਫ਼ਰਾਤ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਲੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 31:30
ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਤੂੰ ਤੁਰ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ। ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰੋਂ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਚੁਰਾਏ?”

ਯਸਈਆਹ 51:2

ਯਸ਼ਵਾ 24:15
“ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਅਵੱਸ਼ ਚੋਣ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ। ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਫ਼ਰਾਤ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ? ਜਾਂ ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਮੋਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ? ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਚੋਣ ਖੁਦ ਕਰਨੀ ਪਵੇਗੀ। ਪਰ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੱਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ!”
ਅਸਤਸਨਾ 26:5
ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉੱਥੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਆਖੋਂਗੇ: ‘ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਇੱਕ ਖਾਣਾਬਦੋਸ਼ ਅਰਾਮੀ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਰਹਿ ਪਿਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਉੱਥੇ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਛੋਟਾ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਮਹਾਨ ਕੌਮ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ-ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਕੌਮ
ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 35:4
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਰੱਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਈਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁੰਦਰਾਂ ਵੀ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਕਮ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਕਸਬੇ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਇੱਕ ਓਕ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦੱਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 31:32
ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੁਰਾਏ। ਜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਲੱਭ ਜਾਣ, ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੋਲ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਹੋਣ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ਤੇਰੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਗਵਾਹ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ ਤਲਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜਿਹੜੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਲੈ ਜਾ।” (ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਰਾਖੇਲ ਨੇ ਲਾਬਾਨ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਚੁਰਾਏ ਸਨ।)
ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 31:19
ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ, ਲਾਬਾਨ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਨ ਲਾਹੁਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਰਾਖੇਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੂਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।

ਜਦੋਂ ਤਾਰਹ 70 ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬਰਾਮ, ਨਾਹੋਰ, ਅਤੇ ਹਾਰਾਨ ਜੰਮੇ।
