Genesis 47:31
ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰ।” ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਸਮ ਖਾਧੀ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਿਸਤਰੇ ਦੇ ਸਰਾਹਣੇ ਤੇ ਝੁਕ ਗਿਆ।

ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਉਦੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੋਟੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਝੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ।

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਇੱਕ ਬਚਨ ਦੇ। ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ। ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਉੱਤੇ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ। ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਓਨਾ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।”

ਹੁਣ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਉਸਦਾ ਦੇਹਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਸੱਦਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਮੇਰੀ ਲੱਤ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਰੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰ। ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਉਹੀ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਮਰਾ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਫ਼ਨਾਉਣਾ।
ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 48:1
ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਅਤੇ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਾਦ, ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ, ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਅਤੇ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਵੱਲ ਗਿਆ।
