ਲਾਬਾਨ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਢੇਰੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮੇ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਾਵੇਗੀ।” ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੈ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਗਲੇਦ ਆਖਿਆ।

ਲਾਬਾਨ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਢੇਰੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮੇ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਾਵੇਗੀ।” ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੈ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਗਲੇਦ ਆਖਿਆ।
