“‘ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਵੇਚੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਕਣਕ, ਜ਼ੈਤੂਨ, ਅਗੇਤੇ ਅੰਜੀਰਾਂ, ਸ਼ਹਿਦ, ਤੇਲ ਅਤੇ ਮਲਹਮ ਨਾਲ ਤਾਰਿਆ।

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰੋਏਰ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਿੰਨੀਥ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੀਕ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਯਿਫ਼ਤਾਹ ਨੇ 20 ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਬੇਲ ਕੇਰਾਮਿਮ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੱਕ ਲੜਿਆ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਇਹ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਕਰਾਰੀ ਹਾਰ ਸੀ।

ਮੇਰੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਲਬਾਨੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੀਕ ਲੱਕੜ ਲਿਆਉਣਗੇ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਵਾ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਚਾਹੇਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ। ਉਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜ ਦਿਵਾਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸੱਕੇਂ। ਬਦਲੇ ’ਚ, ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਲਈ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਤੀ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ।”

ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਸਹੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਉ। ਪਰ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਲਈ ਕੁਝ ਸੁਗਾਤਾਂ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਜਾਉ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਲੈ ਜਾਉ। ਉਸ ਲਈ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ, ਪਿਸਤਾ, ਬਦਾਮ, ਗੂੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਰ ਲੈ ਜਾਊ।

ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਣਕ ਅਤੇ ਜੌਂ, ਅੰਗੂਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੇਲਾਂ, ਅੰਜੀਰ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਾਰ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਤੇਲ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਹੈ।

ਅਵੱਸ਼ ਹੀ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਦਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਚਿਕਿਤਸੱਕ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਖਮ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਏ?

ਹੇਰੋਦੇਸ ਸੂਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਦਾ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੜਾ ਨਾਰਾਜ਼ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਹੇਰੋਦੇਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ। ਉਹ ਬਲਾਸਤੁਸ ਦੀ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਖਾਸ ਨੌਕਰ ਸੀ, ਹਮਾਇਤ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਹੇਰੋਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਲਈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਗਰੀ ਹੇਰੋਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
