ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਅੱਠਾਰ੍ਹਵੇਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 832 ਬੰਦੇ ਫ਼ੜੇ ਗਏ।

ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਖਾਸ ਦਸਤੇ ਦਾ ਕਮਾਂਡਰ ਨਬੂਜ਼ਰਦਾਨ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਰਾਜੇ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਨੀਵੇਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਦਸਵੇਂ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਹੈ। ਨਬੂਜ਼ਰਦਾਨ ਬਾਬਲ ਦਾ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਆਗੂ ਸੀ।

ਕੁੱਲ 70 ਲੋਕ ਸਨ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੇ ਉਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਨ। (ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਵੀ 12 ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ।)

ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਲੁਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਫ਼ੜ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੰਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਤਰਲੇ ਲੈਣ ਆਏ।

ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਨੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ। ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਦ ਤੀਕ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਕੇ ਰਹੇ ਜਦ ਤੀਕ ਕਿ ਫ਼ਾਰਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਰ ਨਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਰਾਜ ਨਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਨਬੂਜ਼ਰਦਾਨ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੈਨਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਮਾਂਡਰ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੜ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ। ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਲ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ। ਨਬੂਜ਼ਰਦਾਨ ਨੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਬੰਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਤਮ-ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਬੰਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਲ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ।
