ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡਿਆਂ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਦਲ ਦਾ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਤੋਂ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ। ਤਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੁੜ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚਲੀ ਸੇਵਾ, ਗਾਉਣ-ਵਜਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਜਸ ਦਾ ਗਾਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਤੋਂ ਫਾਟਕਾਂ ਤੀਕ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਇੱਥੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਵਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਆਉਣਗੀਆਂ। ਇੱਥੇ ਲਾੜੇ ਲਾੜੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਆਵਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਸੁਣਨਗੀਆਂ। ਇੱਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਵਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਦੇਣਗੀਆਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਲਈ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਲਿਆ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਆਖਣਗੇ, ‘ਉਸਤਤ ਕਰੋ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ! ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇਕ ਹੈ! ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ!’ ਲੋਕ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਖਣਗੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਲਈ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਇਹ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਆਦਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ।” ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖੀਆਂ।

ਮੰਦਰ ਜਾਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਗੀਤ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੋ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੇਵਕੋ! ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।

ਸਾਰੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਸੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਬਤ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਬਤ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ ਲਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਵਾਲੀ ਲਈ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਿਦਾਇਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੁੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਚੁਣੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਉਸਤਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਬਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਹਰ ਫ਼ਾਟਕ ਉੱਪਰ ਰੱਖਵਾਲੀ ਲਈ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਇਸੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਹਿਦਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।

ਸਾਰੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਜੋ ਉੱਥੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਰਸਮ ਕੀਤੀ। ਤਾਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਜਾਜਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੱਖੋ-ਵੱਖ ਦਲ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਥਾਵੇਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ।

ਸੰਗੀਤ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਦੇ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਸ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਵੱਖ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੇਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਯਦੂਥੂਨ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਾਸ ਕੰਮ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਅਗੰਮੀ ਵਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਬਤਾਂ, ਦਿਲਰੁਬਾ, ਛੈਣਿਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਸਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੀਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਣਾ ਸੀ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਚੀ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ:

ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਮਰਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਦੀ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੀ।

ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਉਂਤਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਦਾਊਦ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ।

ਹਰ ਸਵੇਰ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਮ, ਸਾਦੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਬਿਵਸਬਾ ਦੀ ਪੋਥੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਸਨ।

ਫ਼ਿਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਅੱਗੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਤਤਾਂ ਗਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ।
