ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਹੇਮਾਨ ਦਾ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਹੇਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਬਰਕਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਬਰਕਯਾਹ ਸ਼ਿਮਆ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ।

ਅਲੀਸਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਚੋ 200 ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਮਅਯਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਸੀ।

ਹਾਰੂਨ ਦੇ ਚਾਚੇ ਉਜਿਏਲ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਸਨ ਮੀਸ਼ਾਏਲ ਤੇ ਇਲਜਫ਼ਾਨ। ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਓ। ਆਪਣੇ ਚਚੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਜਾਓ।”

ਤਦ ਲੇਵੀ ਹੇਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਏ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਯੇਥਾਨ ਸਨ। ਹੇਮਾਨ ਯੋਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਬਰਕਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਯੇਥਾਨ ਕੂਸ਼ਾਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਰਾਰੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਨ।

ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ: ਜ਼ਕੂਰ, ਯੂਸੁਫ਼, ਨਥਾਨਯਾਹ ਤੇ ਅਸ਼ਰੇਲਾਹ। ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਨੂੰ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਤੇ ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ।
