ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਉਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਯੱਸੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਦਾਊਦ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਪਾਇਆ। ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਕਰਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।’

ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡਿਆਂ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਦਲ ਦਾ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਤੋਂ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ। ਤਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੁੜ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚਲੀ ਸੇਵਾ, ਗਾਉਣ-ਵਜਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਜਸ ਦਾ ਗਾਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਤੋਂ ਫਾਟਕਾਂ ਤੀਕ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਗਵੈਯੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਲੇਵੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਵੈਯੇ ਭਾਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਣ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਿਤਾਰਾਂ, ਤੰਬੂਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਜੀਰੇ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦਮਈ ਗਾਨ ਗਾਉਣ।

ਫ਼ਿਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਅੱਗੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਤਤਾਂ ਗਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ।

ਹੇਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਯਦੂਥੂਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਗ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੰਗੀਆਂ ਵਜਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸਦੇ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਸਾਜ਼ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ। ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਗੁਣਗਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਗੀਤਕ ਸਾਜ਼ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ। ਯਦੁਥੂਨ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਫ਼ਾਟਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਦੇ।

ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਉਂਤਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਦਾਊਦ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ।

ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਕਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਕਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚਲੇ ਸਭ ਕਾਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ।”
